Truly One and Only
Reviewed 2 days ago

What superlatives are needed to describe our stay at the One and Only in Cape Town? I am not sure I have enough of them.

The welcome was warm and genuine. We were greeted in a smiling and friendly manner and by name which is always impressive and makes you feel important. The check in process was seamless. We arrived early and although check in time is usually 2:00pm, much to our pleasure, we were told that our room was ready.

The room itself was very big as far as hotel rooms go. I had booked a marina mountain view room and that was exactly what we got. There was ample storage space for clothes and suitcases. We had a breathtaking view of Table Mountain from the very spacious balcony of the room. The bathroom was also very spacious with a double washbasin, shower and bath. Again lots of space to play with.

The restaurants in the hotel are Nobu and Reubens. There other restaurants, but these were closed due to the season. But that made no difference as Reubens was a great dining experience. The food served in Reubens, which is the breakfast room too, is of a very high standard, as one would expect. The wait staff are cheerful and attentive.

The hotel is a short walk from the V&A Waterfront and that in itself opens up a whole array of dining experiences if you want to venture out of the hotel.

Overall it was an amazing break. The property is really one of the best hotels I have stayed in. I have no hesitation is recommending it to any traveller.

The One & Only Capetown is EPIC!

Beautiful, modern, lush, and fun - the One & Only delivers on every level. It is beautifully located within walking distances the waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment. Rooms are PERFECT! Truly a 5+ star hotel.

People are Second to None
Reviewed 3 days ago

My family has stayed in a number of high end hotels across the world, and I have to say the staff at the One&Only Cape Town are second to none. While the rooms are large and luxurious, what really makes this place special is each member of the staff that is truly dedicated to making your stay a special experience. I'd like to call out a few to give you an idea of the extent everyone went to to make sure our stay was absolutely incredible:

Gerald in Management: Gerald gave us our original tour of our rooms and was attentive to how tired we were after a long journey, but also made sure we knew all the amenities down to the light switches. Throughout our stay, Gerald made sure to ask about our days and even called to our rooms to make sure a hike we went on went smoothly!

Elton and Jonathan at the Bar: Both absolutely fantastic bartenders and even better socializers! It was great to learn more about their lives, and Elton went above and beyond with drink recommendations (we basically got a private gin tasting each night!). At the end of our stay, Elton made sure to provide complementary cupcakes! He has traveled all over the world and has made sure to leverage his experience to cater to any need. One of the better bartenders I have ever met!

Aubrey: I swear he is telepathic! The moment I sat down at breakfast each day, my order was on its way, and he always recommended new dishes and juices he knew I would love!

The people make this place so special!

I could wax poetic about how nice the rooms are (spacious, clean, modern, etc.), but the real stand out feature of this place were the people.

Having stayed in places of all sorts before - from 5-star hotels in major cities to rustic hostels with no running water - I have run the gamut of hospitality service. The One and Only takes the cake for their staff's warmth and friendliness! A large group of us (about 16, all Californians) were on a yoga safari retreat and spent 3 comfortable nights there. Each evening, we had the extreme pleasure of speaking with Elton, one of the bartenders, who was our "familiar face" over the course of our stay. He and a few of our group built a nice rapport - It felt like we were all hanging out together in Elton's living room - if he had a 10 meter ceiling and live grand pianist to accompany our discussions.

Thanks to him, on our last night we had a different cocktail custom made for each one of us - mine was finished off in a shower of spices set alight. Him and the other Bartender on staff that evening treated us so well, and I am so grateful for their hospitality and kindness. His name should be mentioned in the list below of people I wanted to specifically thank (Apologies for not remembering it right now!)

Many thanks to the following people for helping make the stay special. They gave good recommendations on where to eat and visit, accommodated my dietary restrictions, and made sure I could buy one of the special guinea fowl mugs they use at the bars for cappuccinos (A perfect souvenir for my time there spent at the bar and the one I'm currently using while writing this review.) I'll be back one day:

Alain
Lungi
Asanda
Elton (already mentioned above - Thanks for the good vibes, man, you rock!)
Leo
Andile
Stephen
Archie
Prince
Lisle

P.S.

I also have to mention that the breakfast buffet was STELLAR. For someone like myself with many dietary restrictions, I still felt like I had loads of options. Vegetarian + Vegan, Gluten + grain free, dairy free, you name it, there were at least a few options to satisfy yourself. Stay here if you can!!

Best place in Cape Town

I have now stayed here twice and it might be my favorite hotel on the world. The rooms are very large, beautifully appointed and comfortable. The bathroom is huge and has every amenity you could want. The staff is kind, friendly and professional. The breakfast is wonderful. Enormous buffet and cooked or order. I love the bar for the drinks and the bar food menu. Delicious.
The best gift shop ever!!
