One of the best

One of the best places I have ever staid travelling around. Special attention to the friendly sraff of this hotel. We (family) felt at home. Everything was of quality, nothing was to much to make our stay as good as possible.

One-of-a-kind, luxurious, art-filled mansion-hotel on the sea with outstanding service
Reviewed 1 month ago

My wife and I concluded after our recent five-day visit that this magnificent mansion-hotel would be hard to match anywhere in the world in light of its large, luxurious junior suites and common areas, refreshing views of the crashing waves of Bantry Bay beyond our bedroom’s covered terrace, flower-filled landscaping and sizable outdoor pool, fabulous breakfast buffet, lunches, and dinners, excellent gated-security, fine modern spa (Yvette was a first-rate therapist), and easy 15-minute hotel-sedan or Uber-rides to downtown. But two additional features clearly put it over the top in our view: its superb, personalized service and its display throughout the hotel of the investment banker-owner’s dazzling collection of over 1,000 South African paintings, sculptures, and other objects from the 1800s to the present (we were treated to a 1.5 hour tour by the hotel’s excellent art guide Talita). The Ellerman House’s exceptional service was exemplified by Senior Duty Manager Lloyd’s quickly and skillfully helping us immediately on arrival with an urgent family matter requiring document-completion and electronic-communication back and forth with the U.S. He and his Duty Manager-colleagues also helped us a number of times with touring arrangements, as did the hotel’s excellent offsite concierge Naomi. Everyone we encountered on the staff was welcoming and highly capable. Our highest recommendation goes to this oasis of sophistication, beauty, comfort, and outstanding service.

Another day in Paradise - friendly super attentive!

We stayed here for my partners 50th birthday and from the doormen at the gate to the on duty manager - everyone was professional and helpful. I had to take balloons and decorations there before our arrival and they decorated the room perfectly. Oh the room - WOW it was amazing! Wonderful Charlotte Rhys products! And plenty of them so one doesn't run out! We had an amazing spa treatment in the day - you must try out the spa - the treaments rooms are the best I havee been in - the ladies were so attentive and looked after us so well. Our treatments were amazing! We then had a late lunch and our waiter was fantastic. Then we chilled and stayed for dinner. I need to recommend the food and service for dinner here - if you are staying, please don't book a restaurant dinner as the food here is stunning! We were relaxed, no rushing and were looked after so well. Attentive great service all day! The food at lunch was wonderful and it was amazing at dinner also. The wine list is fabulous with something for everyone from the cheaper (but amazing quality) to the more expensive and European wines. We love this hotel, I loved "raiding the larder" - google it! Such fun! This is a super luxury hotel but wow - the friendliness and professionalism of this place!I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK! Thank you Ellerman House - x

What can I say about Ellerman house! From the moment we arrived we felt completely at home. The service was outstanding. The accommodation was amazing and the views just spectacular. We also had room service and our food came course to course, served with perfection - the attention to detail was really impressive.
We also had massages in the Spa and I can honestly say it was the best spa I’ve been to in Cape Town. It was really special.
Just one thing to note, we had to call reception twice to get service by the pool. I think that let the weekend down a little, they should have someone by the pool to serve drinks or at least someone checking in every hour or so. We noticed a few of the waiting staff from the stairs just walking around but they never came down by the pool which was a bit disappointing.
In sum, I recommend any one visiting Cape Town to experience this wonderful hotel, as well as locals checking in for night as we did.
