Having stayed at the Dock house twice now we would never stay anywhere else in Capetown! Great location, beautiful rooms( number 1 is our favourite) and nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff. Delicious breakfast is served in the elegant but intimate dining room overlooking the garden. A real home away from home and we can’t wait to return!

Simply the best!

The Dock House Hotel is a perfect place to stay, in complete luxury, in Capetown. It’s very hard to find words that adequately describe this boutique hotel. It’s probably the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms are huge and the decor luxurious. Just a two minute walk to all the Waterfront has to offer, boat trips, bus trips, traditional entertainment, shops, restaurants and bars. A beautiful place to stroll around with fabulous views of the ocean and table mountain.
The hotel is located in a quaint square beside two sister hotels. Parking is free and at the door. It has a beautiful grass and pool area to relax in after a hard morning sightseeing or shopping. Luxury sun beds and a seating area with cold drinks and excellent quality towels. The inside is elegant and beautiful but also caters to your every need. From the moment we entered we were met by staff that simply couldn’t have been more helpful. Tabea and Rober?? checked with us every day and we were treated to some lovely surprises left in our room, including cheese boards, wine and chocolate. How lucky we were to have found this gem on our first visit to Capetown.
The house itself is at least 100 years old with high ceilings, original doors and fireplaces together with antique furniture giving a wonderful sense of old world charm. It’s small and intimate and has an old staircase but no lift. If stairs are a problem stay next door at the Queen Victoria and you can still use the pool area. It also has every modern convenience that you want including extremely comfy beds, and bathrooms with separate baths and showers and two sinks. Excellent toiletries and fluffy towels and robes. Breakfast is excellent with high quality food and if you feel peckish during the day there’s a room with lots of pastries, cakes and coffee open all day. We had our coffee and cake on the balcony overlooking the harbour and pool area most days. Wonderful.
The Dock House itself doesn’t do dinner but we had the best meal of our trip in the Queen Victoria. Top restaurant standard with service to match. I tried Ostrich for the first time. I can still taste it.
We stayed 5 nights here which meant we unpacked and did day trips to the wine region, the Cape, Kirstenbooch Gardens, Table Mountain, Camps Bay and more. All are within easy reach of the hotel. We did private tours, the hop on/off bus and private car. All were good but the views from the top of bus were fantastic.
Capetown is a long flight but to arrive in a place like the Dock House really made it worth it. We will be back.

A wonderful stay in Cape Town. The staff were really lovely and so helpful - organised a courier to pick up stuff we had left in our previous hotel and helped us with trips. Our room was actually a suite of rooms with a bathroom , living room, bedroom and storage cupboard - all was clean, very well done and stylish. Great breakfast and a garden with pool and bar service. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be close to the waterfront. A home from home.

Wonderful Unique Boutique Hotel

Wonderful hotel for our 20th wedding anniversary trip to Cape Town. The hotel is small. The rooms are large with high ceilings, that feel like the guest rooms of a very wealthy harbor master. It is unique. It fits the boutique image, and no ordinary hotel room. Luxurious furnishings, luxurious towels in a spacious beautiful bathroom, all sparkling clean. Great location just overlooking Cape Town’s signature V&A waterfront, with all the dining, shopping, street entertainers and music that are only a few steps away. Tabea and the whole staff made us feel right at home (if I had a home as nice as this). Breakfast was included and delicious. Boutique snacks on the shelf in the library, but they carry some risk that you could get caught with your hand in the cookie jar. What a nice touch!. It was perfect for our anniversary. We loved staying there. I will jump at the chance to stay at the Dock House again.
