How to Get There
We stayed at Cape Cadogan for 4 nights from 5 June as the first stop of our honeymoon. The building is lovely, breakfast is great (a nice buffet and some lovely hot options) and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We also loved the canapés and port / sherry available by the welcoming fireplace from 5pm - one of several nice touches at the hotel.
Our room (no 15) was spacious with a nice bathroom - the only thing that would have been useful was just a seat somewhere and maybe a bit more storage (though we had a lot of stuff for a 3 week trip overall!).
As a tip for guests, it’s possible to walk to (or at least back from - it’s downhill that way!) the start of the Lions Head walk/hike - and we actually walked back from the
Table Mountain cable car (40-50 mins - largely downhill) and walked to the waterfront (45 mins). This was all fine in June for us being from the UK as the weather was ok but not too hot (between 15 and 25 degrees during the day) but could be pretty stifling in Cape Town’s summer!!
Having said that we also found the free shuttle really useful - if it was available, the guest relations staff would arrange for it to drop us at restaurants or other areas, then we often got an Uber back (though you can call the hotel for the shuttle too).
There are some really nice restaurants nearby if you want something close to the hotel (Kloof St House and the Black Sheep were ones we particularly enjoyed). We actually used a nearby gym (down Kloof St, not the Virgin gym the hotel has a link to which is a short drive away) but found it expensive at R150 each!
We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend Cape Cadogan as a lovely place to stay, with great service.
The Cape Cadogan is a beautiful hotel overall. The staff was friendly and helpful. We greatly enjoyed the breakfast made fresh daily (the granola is to die for!) that includes a lovely buffet and choice of delicious hot dish made fresh. Scraping the honey off the honey comb also was a treat!
The room itself was clean, moderately-sized and had an evening turn-down service which we always enjoy. The toilet, however, was in a small "closet" and I would venture to guess that the space is smaller than the WC in a 747 airplane.
After 19+ hours of flying time (Boston to Cape Town), the Cape Cadogan Hotel provided the perfect room and facilities for our first evening in South Africa. We had plenty of room and Danica ensured our every comfort. The interiors of both the shared spaces and our room were gorgeously appointed. After many hours of sleep in this peaceful and quiet lodge, we enjoyed a bountiful and delicious breakfast.
The hotel is located in a great part of the city - and a perfect launching pad should you desire to visit Table Mountain.
A wonderful little boutique hotel tucked away off Kloof street
The staff are wonderfully helpful especially Danika
My room was a standard one and quite small but had everything you needed especially as I was travelling alone
The Wi-fi is fast, the breakfast good and the location perfect. Would love to come again
Outstanding spot. The breakfast is wonderful and the staff was great (especially Danica who worked her magic and got us a table at a full restaurant). Our room was wonderful with pull down service with a taste treat. Also the neighborhood was a perfect kick off spot to enjoy Cape Town. Highly recommend this hotel and its wonderful staff.
