Meh...Dated, Average Hotel And Casino!!!

We stayed here for one night while traveling to Bowling Green. The Mardi Gras looks like it's seen better days. Check in was easy, room was 119.00 which seems high for what it is. The room looked like 70's or early 80's vintage with lots of shiny gold stuff in the bathroom so you can feel like President Trump. It was clean, no problems noted. The casino was very average and dead. The machines were typical slots. Many machines were not working due to some renovation work. the mid priced restaurant was not open. I'm handicapped, and there are only 3 HP parking places near the building. I think everybody I saw was 75+ years of age, and I must have seen 15 or 20 people at the hotel with walkers, wheelchairs, canes, etc. Kind of like a nursing home with slots, I guess!

She ain’t what she use to be! ????

Traveling is a passion of ours. We have been to this resort many times. The changes that new ownership leave MUCH to be desired. The updates to the Casino are in progress and we understand improvements are usually for the better. The vibe on the Casino floor was down right depressing! In previous visits, we would see many people that we had met on some of our various visits here. The Casino was not busy and bustling as we are accustomed.
Food: We ate in The First Turn on Sunday night. The prime rib my husband had was anything but prime. It was tough and unfavored! The burger was charred on the outside so as you’d expect, way overcooked on the inside. The baked potatoes we ordered as a side were cooked, and recooked prior to serving. Service was horrible. There were just a few patrons in the restaurant and you’d think there would be enough waitstaff to suffice. On the level we were seated, there was ONE other person. Not eating just betting on the dogs.

Much better the first time.

I'm not quite sure what happened to this place but we came back for a second visit because the first time we were there was so nice. Check in was fine and staff was friendly and the hotel is nice and very clean. However, when we got in to the casino, we noticed that several of the slot machines were shut down, roped off and broken. Some of the machines that were on would not take money or tickets. I played on one slot machine that would cash you out every few minutes on it's own. Even the ticket redemption machines were all out of order. This went on all evening and the next day. When I asked one of slot machine attendants what was going on he informed me it was due to the weather. The weather was gorgeous out, so I'm not quite certain what that was supposed to mean. Then he informed me that the technical person who is in charge of all the slots was ill with pneumonia. It's a casino...I find it hard to believe that they only have one person in charge of the floor. To make matters worse, we then stopped at the "Right Turn Restaurant", boy was that a mistake. We thought we would go there as you can watch the dog races while you dine and I've never seen dog races before. The hostess was fine and seated us then it all went down hill from there. We were never given any menus and we waited about 15 minutes and no one ever came to the table and the restaurant was not busy at all. I got up to ask for menus and a server and finally about 5 minutes later a server came to the table with menus. She then took our order and brought our salads within a reasonable amount of time but we never got any silverware. We waited and waited and again I had to go up and ask someone for silverware. Finally our dinners came which were less than par but we just wanted to eat and get out of there and again...you guessed it...the server never brought us our check. My husband got up this time to ask her if she can bring our checks. Needless to say, we will never return there again. We were also informed at check in that the nice buffet breakfast that was previously in the lobby was now moved to the casino for some reason. Bad move...we went to the casino in the morning and had to wait in line for 20 minutes to go to the cashier and tell which of the 3 breakfast platters we wanted. The food was good but there was no longer a choice of fruit or yogurt or any other healthier choices. We were given a lot of food but not being a big breakfast eater I threw most of my food away which is a waste. If you plan on attending this casino you may want to check that everything is operating well first or you are going to be disappointed.
