How to Get There
Decided to stop here for the night along the way home. Did not make a reservation. The front desk clerk, however, told me if I signed up for the players club, the room rate would be $119. Good as it was $149 on-line. She could actually sign us up right there at the desk.
Got to the room and it was nice except the A/C only blew out hot air. Called the front desk and she had someone come and change out the unit.
Now the gaming experience. Love that it is a non-smoking casino.....ok that’s the end of the good stuff. First it appears to be under renovation. The machines I like, which I called to verify the had, were out of service. I really think they should not this on their website, I would have never gone.
It took me a half our to find a working ATM. There is a corner of three, really hidden around the back of some machines. REally? Who doesn’t have ATM’s on the gaming floor. I played for several hours and not ONCE did any waitstaff ask if I wanted anything to drink. I would never go back.
We recently stayed at the Mardi Gras Hotel Sunday night of Labor Day weekend. Check in time is 4 p.m.
After a long day of riding our motorcycle we were looking forward to relaxing. However, when we arrived around 3 we were told it would be 4 before our room would be available. We understood , since check in was at 4. At 4 it still wasn’t ready, nor was it at 4:30 or 4:45. Our room and many others were not available till after 5 p.m. Many customers were upset, some had to wait till 5:30 for a room.
The hotel gave the reason it was a holiday weekend for the delay. However this was our second trip there and same problem. The prior time wasn’t a holiday weekend. I contacted management but never received a reply.
One could tell this was a normal occurrence from the hotel staff reactions.
Next time in area we will stay nearby and use Shuttle and save time and money.
I have stayed here for many years and this by far was the worse I have seen!! Wasn't even greeted upon checking was just told to go find something to do it would be hours before they would have my room ready and it was already after 4 when I got there. What was really upsetting is they didn't tell me when I called weeks prior to making reservations that the hotel is tore all apart and half of it is closed. I went to First Turn to eat while waiting for my room and was recommended by staff to have the prime rib it was awesome, well someone needs to explain to the cooks medium rare is NOT brown all the way through and worse was they was tearing up the carpet behind us and had dust floating in the air while we was eating and had to talk loud to hear over the noise of the machine cutting the carpet up. The updated rooms that is printed on web page is the same as they were some 10 or so years ago when I stayed there but will give housekeeping credit that room was very clean and bed was comfortable and they need to have mini fridges in room. Over half of the slots were gone or out of service and what few table games they had were bunched up in the middle and was crowded all night. What a disappointment it was to me and my date that hasn't ever been there and it was a surprise trip!! Management is very poor there and barely got " I apologize for the remodeling inconvenience", this place used to be a great weekend get-away but will be looking elsewhere to go.
