Relaxing, romantic stay at beautiful Amberley Castle
Reviewed 1 day ago

Thoroughly enjoyable one night stay at this beautiful hotel. I booked as part of my husband’s Christmas present as we went in late 2011 and he has always said it was one of his favourite trips so I was a bit nervous it would be as memorable second time around. It was: a fabulous trip.

Sophie was super kind and patient with my emails after booking trying to work out which room we had stayed in in 2011 and staff throughout our stay both on reception and at dinner and breakfast were a delight: friendly and professional.

We had the 5 course tasting menu at dinner in the atmospheric Queen’s Room and the food was fantastic, a great balance of flavours and beautifully presented. Wine flight was spot on.

We enjoyed walking around the pretty grounds and into the church and village, and had fun playing golf in the grounds. The only annoyance was all the leaves on the golf course: it would have been easier (though potentially less amusing) had these been cleared.

There are lots of lovely places to visit around this part of the world. We enjoyed a trip to RSPB Pulborough but also recommend Arundel.

We would highly recommend Amberley Castle for a romantic and relaxing stay. Driving up to the castle in the sunshine with blankets of snowdrops on arrival was pretty special. We’re now considering returning for our 10 year wedding anniversary in May :-)

The Forgotten tea....
Reviewed 2 days ago

We went for a Valentine’s afternoon tea.
Beautiful venue and gardens but staff were terrible, they were not very helpful or knowledgeable.
They forgot to bring us our tea and then forgot to bring us the cream and jam for our scones! (This also happened to the couple next to us)
We also paid for the Laurent Perrier champagne flight, where you get 3 glasses of champagne, these were all flat and warm.

We felt forgotten about being put in a back room so when leaving we went up to the reception desk to ask for the bill where they then tried to over charge us on our bill!

The ladies toilets were also dirty, they had paint peeling off of the walls

Overal, disappointing

Fantastic overnight stay at the Hotel amazing food and the service was excellent. Great room and a wonderful place to stay. The 5 course tasting meal was superb. If you are thinking about booking do it.

Valentines afternoon tea
Reviewed 3 days ago

Although very lovely food and surroundings , this was our second visit to the Castle.
Was a little disappointed as booked and choose for valentines one because of fond memories of first visit and secondly because of pictures in advertisements of valentines special cakes and biscuits and heart chocs .
We only had one heart shape thin choc shape in a macaroon. So just seemed like an everyday tea rather than a special one.
So although enjoyed just took the edge off and the service was a little slow. And would of been nice to be in one of the lounges rather than a back room.

Beautiful food

The presentation of the food was excellent. The surroundings are just perfect for an enjoyable occasion. The fires in the lounges were an added bonus.

The only comment I would make are the stairs up to the restaurant on the 1st floor are difficult with a disability.
