How to Get There
Enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea at the castle. Food was very good, a selection of sandwiches, pastries, cakes and scones. We recieved a friendly welcome on arrival and the service excellent.A super treat.
I had a big birthday last weekend so we booked a 2-night stay in this lovely castle hotel.
The foremost thing that struck me on arrival was the friendliness of the staff, and that continued throughout our stay....across the board. I'd like to particularly mention Amanda, Catya and Emily. All whose affability and delightful manner enriched our stay.
Our room was lovely and bigger than I imagined it would be. Our bathroom also was large and well equipped. The only issue I had was with the temperature control in the shower. It went very hot, and I couldn't seem to make it colder. Maybe it takes a long time for a temperature change, but I don't have the patience to wait a long time for the cold to come through. The other minor niggle with my room (Amberley) was the curtains. On arrival they seems to be coming out of the curtain loops and whilst we could open them using the pulley system, we couldn't close them. In a hotel of this calibre, I expect everything to be in perfect working order. That is the least that guests to a castle hotel can expect. However we managed, and didn't let these niggles spoil our delight in our room.......and once Housekeeping was informed they kind of made them work again, but again these curtains need an overhaul. They weren't hanging properly at all.
The breakfast was outstanding, and the service again was superb. The waiting staff couldn't do enough for us.
Dinner was Fine Dining, as I would have expected, and each course was sublime. Chef really knows his onions, so to speak!! My Birthday Dinner was enhanced by the lovely gesture of a little box of truffles being presented to me. How kind!
So all in all, this would definitely be a hotel we would revisit again and again for special occasions.
We booked Sunday Lunch (it was our wedding anniversary). The food was wonderful, we'd booked the taster menu but changed our mind on the day, this wasn't a problem. The staff were all fantastic, lovely warm greeting and the waitresses were very attentive and polite. The building is of course stunning. Basically everything was perfect!
