Sooo good, food was exceptional, the castle itself was stunning from the gardens to the powder rooms. Special addition was the collection of really old editions of Charles Dickens in the sitting room (which you are allowed to read). Cocktails were also great.

Brilliant Lunch

We booked lunch at Amberley to celebrate my wife's birthday. We had a brilliant time, the food was fabulous and the service excellent (Thank you Julian!). All followed by a lovely walk down to the river. We look forward to returning soon.

Birthday treat
Reviewed 24 hours ago

Booked a 7 for 7.30pm dinner for my wife’s birthday treat. Glorious evening and we sat in the garden for G & T. However it took ages for them to come and take our order and consequently we were later than we wanted going in for dinner at 8pm.
We ordered the tasting menu and a lovely bottle of haut medoc. Food again was very slow in coming and at 9.40 we had only had 4 courses of the 6 and our taxi was due at 10pm. I therefore had to chase up for the food. Thus we missed coffee and after dinner drinks.
The food was mostly very good but just missed in a few places. For example both the jersey royals and black pudding were well over cooked. Service very friendly and the location and ambiance are excellent.
The restaurant was very busy and I think they needed more staff. It is an expensive evening and they need to have the ability to make everything work better.

We will return

Our first visit to Amberley Castle restaurant will definitely not be our last. This hotel has a wonderful restaurant providing a “fine dining experience”. The quality of the food is exceptional and prepared to a very high standard. We went for lunch which we both thoroughly enjoyed, from the chef’s appetisers through to the Chocolate Fondant we had for sweet. As it was a beautiful day we had coffee in the garden. From start to finish the staff couldn’t have done more to ensure our experience was special.
Thanks to them all.

Despite two specific calls to the hotel reservation staff not to involve my two guests in any payment whatsoever, they were greeted on arrival with a request for a credit card and a down payment of £150.

Not what I expected of a ‘luxury’ hotel.
