Perfect in every way

We stayed here a few days ago for one night passing through Bruges and our biggest complaint is that we did not stay longer. The hotel is beautiful, the location perfect and the staff are excellent. I can not recommend this hotel enough . We shall definitely return

Historic elegance on the canal

From the moment we entered the lobby we felt as if our best friend’s mother had invited us into her home and welcomed us with a hug. A gracious and very attentive staff took care of all our needs.
The hotel sits steps away from the Market and overlooks the canal.

Summer in Brugge

We planned a little trip to Brugge based on what we had read in NYT 36 hours. NYT lists Die Swaene as one of their recommended hotels. Booking was easy, via bookings.com, and a junior suite reserved as was the only room available for our stay. Well, what can we say about the stay. Firstly, on arrival our taxi dropped us at the front door and bags quickly collected. Next, one of the high lights of the say, Lieven. Lieven was front of house on the Friday afternoon we arrived. He greeted us warmly, and after taking the obligatory passport and credit card, asked if we had been to Brugge before. Not having been he promptly gave us two maps, one larger one small. On the smaller map he showed us the best points of interest. He then gave us a conducted tour of the hotel. Taking his time to explain various parts of the hotel, including the Grand Salon. We then returned to reception to be taken to our room. The junior suite was just amazing. A view over the canal, as promised, spacious seating area with a grand fire place. A small dining area with a antique chest of drawers with a 'pod' coffee machine and a kettle. Minor moan, no tea bags and only 2 coffee pods. I'm British I bring my own tea bags!! A king size bed that was comfortable. A separate bathroom with good shower and toilet. Our three night stay was magic. As the weather was hot we had the windows open the first night and was surprised how quiet Brugge was after dark. The hotel is a few minute walk from all the major city centre attractions. On departure the owner was extremely helpful. Our train was not until later in the afternoon and happily stored our bags and when we left ordered us a taxi which was there quickly. She also promised their best rate if we book direct. We intend to return in the winter and will definately be staying there again, and look forward to Lieven's charm.
