My three girlfriends and I discovered the Lodge's Festival of Beers six years ago and dubbed the event "Beer School" since we were learning about local microbrews. The lodge staff is kind and helpful and the food we enjoyed in the River Rock Lounge was delicious.
The festival is now called Fall Fest by the lodge and we had a fabulous time once again at "Beer School" sampling brews and dancing under their new pavilion during a drenching rain storm. Can't wait for next year!!!
We stayed here 6 years ago, 2016. I wanted to do something special and adventurous but safe for my husbands birthday. I booked a long weekend at Skamania Lodge which included the beautiful Zip Line, hiking, delicious meals over looking the river and trips to their spa for expert treatment. It was going to be amazing! It was! Mostly...
However, the rooms are tiny for the price and our toilet did not flush and someone left a Pooh in our Loo. When we complained there was an unflushable pooh in the loo- we just arrived, the toilet should be PRISTINE- no one seemed to care.
The room smelled like a strangers turd and the front desk suggested the genius idea- you should flush it. Terrific idea but whoever cleaned the room failed.
Around 10pm the lodge sent a man with a plunger who was unable to fix the toilet. Meanwhile, my husband and I are instructed to make use of the public restrooms. The toilet was not fixed until the next day, late afternoon.
We were not offered an apology, a different room or any compensation. I felt they were dismissive and rude- like “how dare you complain about a little poop in your room?” Ever since staying there I get emails trying to lure us back and I replied time and time again- don’t email me because when you do, it makes me mad and I want to tell the world how my husbands 50th birthday experience was a little poohy. After a year of complaints they sent us the gift of a discounted 1 night stay subject to holidays and this and that etc. after a year. That is their attempt to make up for their lack of cleaning and kindness.
We were looking forward to maybe making a new tradition! A new yearly trip we could enjoy with family. But nope. They dashed our hopes and forever lost a customer.
I got another email today. I told them to remove me from their email list 6 years ago. Yet another fail. So, I tell the world about their mistreatment of my beautiful hard working husband. How on Earth do they miss a pooh!? How do they expect to float that passed paying customers!? It wasn’t like we won a trip. We paid for this!!! And to be asked and expected to go find another bathroom while the one in the room is stopped up!? No one even cared! I do not feel my expectations are unreasonable. The trip was tainted from the moment we walked in the warm room and were hit with the stink of another’s pooh. It was a four hour drive to get there from our home. I do not recommend the Skamania Lodge.
Don't expect to be in your room before 4pm. Check-in 'begins' at 4pm. The property is very loud, walls are thin and TVs and other guests are easily heard.. The room was fine but not a $257 room.
I ordered a drink in the bar and gave the waitress a $20 bill she could find no one to give her change. Under Staffed/Over Rated
