How to Get There
The room booked online with Booking.com clearly articulated that my Luxury Suite would come with a KING SIZE bed and a pull out sofa, which was perfect for my group of 3 for a girls trip. However - instead of being in a room with a King Bed - I was given a room with a QUEEN bed - which ISN'T EVEN AN OPTION - on the Westgate Park Resort website. When asked for being reimbursed for the lack of accommodations I was 1st told that there was nothing that could be done since I booked our vacation with Booking.com. After a brief discussion - I was then told that my resort fees of $135.72 could be waived. My overall bill for 4 night is $2008.66.
I have 1 more night here and I do hope that the resort leadership will make this right. I will update the Trip Advisor community on the overall outcome. At minimum, I would expect 1 night removed from my bill. This Queen Size room is MUCH smaller than anything on the website. Oh - I was also told that there are 4 rooms that are Queen that are sold as King.....
I went to the Westgate to tour a condo for possible purchase as an investment property. Eddie (possibly with the Engineering team?) went above and beyond in helping us. We were trying to find the indoor/outdoor pool & he went out of his way to take us there & then to show us a few other things on the way or nearby (how to get out to the ski-lift area, the adult relaxation pool, the restaurants, etc). We appreciated his service very much!
Was able to rent an owned unit for about $170/person/night (small ~320 sq ft studio with 1 king size bed, pull out couch, spartan kitchenette but passable) which turned out to be a nice value for what we got. Ski on ski off to red pines gondola, Aloha ski rental on site which is quite convenient.
The ski valet was a great amenity (call early in the AM to get your skis out there for the first run), along with the locker they set you up for the majority of your stay. Boot drying was also extremely nice - they place your boots in your locker for use the next morning.
The property geography itself is baffling - the design and location of the amenities makes almost no sense. Lockers on level 4, ski valet on level 6, ski rental on level 7. Insane amount of elevators and crossover hallways needed to get to where you are wanting to go.
The service is passable - definitely not concierge level by any means but it gets the job done.
The adult pool and hot tub area are very nice. Definitely needs a second hot tub though to handle surges in volume.
Overall, great value for families and bro trips. Would look elsewhere for more of a luxury or honeymoon experience.
We own a fixed week timeshare, 4 BR Presidential Suite. Have been visiting since 2006. Since there are a limited number of these particular units we often get the same one. This year we were in the same unit as last year. It is getting very tired! Carpet is ripped, refrigerator has a dent on the door, cabinets are chipped etc. In short, in need of some sprucing up.
The pros this year: check in was relatively fast, ski valet can now be reached via phone rather than having to go to floor 6 to request skis be put out in the am (this feature was long overdue), bottled water was available in the ski locker room.
The cons this year: shuttle service was not as good as previous years (seemed to be fewer shuttles available) often leading to longer waits to be picked up from our location (forgot us totally one night), garage was quite full (top floor where we park has several spaces taken up with junk like couches and wood), garage is also totally open without a gate accessed by resort key like in previous years (I saw several people who clearly knew that and took advantage of the free parking to get closer to the mountain), the kitchen was not well equipped (seems like stuff has disappeared from previous years) so we found ourselves hand washing or running the dishwasher every day, there is still a terrible draft that comes from the hole behind the tv, housekeeping didn’t come when requested.
Sounds like a lot of complaints but since we are owners we will continue to take advantage of our week. We love skiing at PC and we spend most of the time out of the rooms so the various shortcomings are not deal breakers. We just hope the resort gets a facelift soon.
We stayed here for a ski weekend. We had a private rental but there are many hotel rooms too. In room 3912B we had a separate room for a king size bed, two closets and a bank of drawers. Double door pull closed for privacy from the living area. We could have cooked there if we wanted. The best feature of the resort is ski services where you can leave your skiis. Then call in the morning and they bring them to the gondola for you. Drop them off at the gondola at the end of the day. Free! There's a market on the property for eggs and milk, alcohol, some groceries. The resort is right at the Town square, a short walk to breakfast at Murdock's, ski school, the gondola. After skiing we sat at the Umbrella bar for a beer and music. Everyone working at the resort was super customer attentive. We also used the shuttle to Park City which was super easy. Better restaurant choices and shopping in PC.
For transport to/from SLC we loved our driver (he's on Lyft and Uber but after the first ride we called him direct so we were guaranteed to have him). Daniel Hernandez 385-628-8444. He drive a very nice Mercedes SUV. He was so easy to communicate with on arrangements. He knows a ton of stuff about Salt Lake, all the ski areas and technology. Interesting conversations.
