How to Get There
My kids loved the waterpark, but I found crackers under the pull out bed, gummies stuck to the mattress and a stain that looked like blood. I asked at online checkin to have extra towels, blankets and toiletries in the room (400$a night suite) but I had to call repeatedly and wait almost 3 hours to get them. The room doesnt include breakfast, which I think is kind of off putting. Also. It might seem small, but they only give you 2in1 shampoo. No separate conditioner, whi h is kind of a must for me after the pool.
We go to the beach 🏖 every year, but this year we couldn’t. So we stayed at Great wolf lodge with an amazing water park. The room was awesome we had 7 people so we stayed in the loft. It was clean and plenty big enough.
As far as I'm concerned this will be our last visit, every visit is worse then the last. We arrived at 1230 and were surprised to get our room early. That was only good surprise. Upon entering we found dirty washcloths. Mind you not hidden or tucked away, right in the middle of the floor by the coffee table. There were what appeared to be milkduds on the floor. On the counter in the bathroom were used contacts. No way on God's Earth that room was cleaned. To make matters worse the electric outlet on the wall next to the bed, you know the one everyone will use and is accessible to all without obstruction....well the outlet was there and the wires exposed. The square part was completely gone. Wonderful for children to get electrocuted. There was a huge disgusting blob of something right smack dab in the middle of the floor, made sure to step over it, it was that nasty! So sticky and nasty like no one even tried to clean it. The water park was literally hit or miss. We had good food and great service at a little place called Buckets. The young man named Jordan who took our order was extremely sweet very patient even stayed open a few minutes extra so that the kids could have their food. Weird hours. The bathrooms were disgusting and on the baby changing table there was an exploded nasty diaper. While I'm aware that it isn't the parks fault for the nasty diaper it did remain there for several hours before it was cleaned up. Many unruly children and although it's the parents problem, many of the lifeguards or the people on duty weren't even paying attention they didn't stop children from fighting and arguing. I got knocked over a dozen times just trying to go around the lazy river. One of my granddaughters got hurt pretty decently in The lazy River and scuffed up her knee which blood quite a bit. We went to the desk where you get towels and asked for Band-Aids, were told they didn't have any to check in the small gift shop right behind them. They didn't have any and told us to go up to the front desk where we were greeted by eyerolls and the feeling that we were inconveniencing them. They yelled to someone to get one. Eventually somebody got one and ran by us and handed it to us as fast as they could, didn't say a word just handed off fast as possible and ran off. It took almost 20 minutes to get a Band-Aid. Accidents are going to happen in a child related place I cannot believe that first aid kids weren't at the ready. I am done spending money at this place, the cost keeps rising and the quality is at an all-time low. It's time to start traveling and spending money at a place that is clean, safe and shows they care how people who frequent their business are treated.
This was our first visit to a GWL. We are not "pro" water sliders, but enjoyed the experience! We liked the MagiQuest game. The food was fine but the options are somewhat limited. I would have liked a convenient store or pantry option for simpler breakfast options. The rooms were really comfortable. Lots of walking but that's fine for our family.
Booked a last minute stay at Great Wolf to stay overnight on Easter. The booking process was easy and the rate was about half of what it normally is. Arrived at the hotel right at check in time and the front desk service was great. We were given a room right away. We immediately hit the water park. It was not super busy but there appeared to be the bare minimum number of lifeguards, presumably because of the holiday. It took forever to ride any slide because of the number of lifeguards working, one lifeguard for 4 slides. The kids enjoyed themselves despite the wait times. Once we got back to our room the cleanliness of the room became a little more obvious. There was a large sticky spot on the carpet in the middle of the room that was pretty gross. Also, killed 3 random spiders in the bathroom. I understand that bugs happen but would expect a freshly cleaned room to not have 3 spiders! Overall the room was just okay. We also ordered Pizza at the place next to the water park. Ordered pizza, garlic bread, and three sodas. Filled all three sodas at the coke freestyle machine but when I finished my son knocked one drink out of my hand and all over the floor. It was a total accident. I asked for a mop to help clean it up. A lady brought a mop out, looked at the spill and actually rolled her eyes. Listen, I hate spills as much as the next person but this a kids place, spills happen. The best part is that the lady explained that the machine was single service (meaning the cups have sensors in them so you can’t get refills) so it wouldn’t let us just fill it up again. No offer to get him another cup. Seriously, I wasn’t trying to get something for free but is there no compassion for a kid who dropped his soda???? The food took FOREVER! Servers people who ordered the same thing AFTER us got their food before us. They buzzed our pager, gave us the pizza but said it would be another 5 minutes for the garlic bread. When we finally got everything the pizza was cold and honestly not great.
The water park itself seems to be less well maintained and is starting to show its age but over all is fun. For the price, I just expect a high caliber of service that just doesn’t seem to be there.
