How to Get There
Stayed here for 3 days in an ocean view room the room was comfortable and well appointed..Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The resort is located within a 15 minute walk from Port Denarau Marina, so it is close to all amenities and restaurants.
The resort itself is spacious and on the waters edge so the views are amazing. It is also , within walking distance to the other resorts on the island (such as the Hilton and Sheraton), which you can wander into at your leisure.
The Westin has a number of pools that are well maintained as are the surrounding gardens. The gym is well equipped, there are the usual stores on the premises (convenience store, Jacks, clothing stores), although their prices are high by comparison to the Port Denarau Marina shopping centre, so it might pay to visit the Marina and stock up on supplies.
Meals were good at the resort although they can be pricey, a better option is to visit some of the other restaurants on the island.
The beach is not accessible from the resort, so unfortunately there aren't any water sports available (other than the swimming pools).
There is a bus that travels around the Island every 15 minutes or so and a 24 hour pass costs just $8 FJD, so that does provide you with an opportunity to explore the island.
Overall, the Westin Resort was a great place to relax and unwind also a great base to explore Denarau Island. It was a bit dated but was in the process of being renovated during our stay.
I would come back here in a heart beat, hishly recommend this place.
One month on, and we are no closer to getting an overcharge to our Credit card of $700AUD resolved and refunded. Taniela, Ane and Mereoni have all been unhelpful and we are now going to involve the police as fault has been proven yet nothing is being done.
My wife and I along with my sister and her husband spent 7 nights in Fiji at the Westin. When we checked in we found that the travel company had not asked that our rooms be close together. It was late at night and the reception staff asked that we come back in the morning to sort. This we did and the staff and manager were really helpful and sorted it quickly. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was included in the cost and there was plenty of nice food to choose from. The other meals were nice but a bit expensive with minimum choice.
The rooms were comfortable and well serviced but are getting a bit tired.
Feeling very underwhelmed after spending 7 nights here, traditional Fijian style resort however needs an upgrade. Feeling the $ we spent wasn't value for money, not 5 star! Check-in staff mixed our rooms up, even though I asked, my questions were ignored, I let it go! Cleanliness, both bathrooms full of mould in grouting, ridiculous tap set-up, had to ask for clean towels & fix light over sink, obviously not checked! Rooms need a good clean, really disappointed! However comfortable bed. Air conditioner very loud & rattled, wine glasses smelt of dirty towels! TV channels limited, what a waste with the flat screen to watch! Room phone worked sometimes, inconvenient when wanting to contact family in room above. For what we spent feel very disappointed after visiting neighbouring resorts. Food & drinks so over priced & limited, yes, we checked out neighbouring happy hours to compare & menus. Food here needs an upgrade, waiting for 30mins for lunch on our 1st day, simple food ordered, using Fiji time excuse is not on, we then went to Golf Club! Sitting at bar on stools looking into bar, chatting to bar tender saw a mouse run up onto counter where cocktail fruit was in containers, bar tender shoed mouse off, he knew we saw it...put me off going back to bar for rest of week! No more cocktails for me! Food service very slow, along with bar service, my husband ordered from pool area several times, had to ask where it was??? I get Fiji Time, however this was over & over...Adult pool murky, not crystal clear blue, needs a good clean, mouldy slim all around pool in white grating, pool furniture broken, needs an upgrade. We haven't had an overseas holiday for 15 years, this was for our 50th Bdays, really disappointed. Buffet Breakfast was ok, was hit & miss over our stay, staff friendly, did enjoy relaxed atmosphere however needs music to create atmosphere. Live entertainment was great on Sunday night & Saturday afternoon. Stunning entrance when you drive up. Not sure we would go back, needs upgrading, definately not 5 star, over priced, I question the overall pricing!
Feeling underwhelmed with our accomodation!
Spend 2 nights at the Westin Denarau resort and really loved the spot. A little expensive but still very enjoyable. Staff were friendly and the facilities are excellent. It was a great way to send the last few days of our Fiji trip.
