How to Get There
My wife and I stayed at the Lodge while she had a conference there. Very high quality facility and staff. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the valet and front office staff we enjoyed the personable and gracious service. My wife took advantage of the fitness facility and and was very pleased with the amenities. Although we only ate banquet meals we were quite impressed with their ability to prepare delightful and tasty menus for the 80 participants. Rooms are well appointed and the beds are quite comfortable. Great stay!
I was fortunate to visit the Williamsburg Lodge during the HFTP Regional Conference. The quality of service that I received prior to my arrival was top notch, in the sense that all details and requests were taken in consideration during my stay. A centrally located property within Colonial Williamsburg, the hotel offers great rooms, facilities and restaurants nearby that are worth trying out.
One suggestion that I have for the Sweet Tea & Barley restaurant or Food & Beverage Manager is regarding the pairing of meals with cocktails in this restaurant. We had a party of seven to this restaurant during Valentine's Day and this combination did not work successfully for all of us during our evening. We all were served the same drink (for each course) with different plates in a three-course menu, and it really did not compliment the meal whatsoever. Wine pairing with a consideration of the type of meal being served for each guest would have been more a more successful implementation.
Other than such experience, the Williamsburg Lodge is a great hotel to consider in Colonial Williamsburg. I would definitely consider it in the near future.
I highly recommend the Williamsburg Lodge. My husband and I stayed for a long weekend getaway and it was very pleasant. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, they have great restaurants on site, and their rates are very reasonable. We stayed in a one bedroom suite in the main building, and despite the restaurant which often had live music being one floor below our room was very quiet. They have a Colonial Williamsburg concierge in the main lobby where you can purchase discounted tickets, and Colonial Williamsburg itself is just a few steps away. It is also a short drive to Jamestown and Yorkville. We will definitely return to this hotel when we plan another trip to the area!
Went out this morning and fired a Revolutionary era musket. For all you folks who have thought about doing this, it is exillerating. Signed up at the lodge for a teservation and shortly thereafter s van came by and took me to a special range. Now this is NOT a video game. It is a real range with real certified professional instructors. They will go over the history of the weapond to be fired, the safety precautions and the commands thst will be used. Then it is up to the firing line. The instructor will load the wespon then hand it to you. You will prime it and fire it. This is all done using 2 different era weapons. It was great fun and much enjoyment.
Wow, what a great treat and very memorable. I urge anyone visiting the Colobial Williamsburg area to experience this exciting event.
We picked Christmas Day to stay at the Williamsburg Lodge. Our plans included to stay in town one day and visit Christmas Town Bush Gardens on day 2.
We checked in to the hotel around 2 pm. We got a 2 beds room in newer section. I used my Visa Rewards points for our stay and was offered a free breakfast for 2 . We liked our room, it was updated but had a strong chemical smell. I opened a balcony to air out the room. We had coffee-maker, mini fridge in the room. It was a cold day and we skipped a spa which was across the street.
Because of the holiday a lot of restaurants in town were closed and we ate dinner inside of the lodge. We were not happy with our server and quality of the food, unfortunately.
Next morning we had a buffet breakfast which had enough choices for me and my son. We visited a gift shop too and got some sale holiday items.
Hotel lobby had hot apple cider during the day. In the morning they were selling a quick breakfast to go and coffee at the lobby.
We used hotel shuttle to get to the park and avoided paying a parking fee and long walk to the entrance.
We was able to keep our car free of charge at hotel garage.
I really liked how hotel was decorated for the winter holidays. We had one problem with billing and it took almost 2 weeks to fix a wrong charge, but altogether we were happy with this hotel and location. Walking distance from Historical Williamsburg plus a shuttle bus.
