How to Get There
This B/B was delightful. We sent an email that we would be late checking in and complete directions were left for us in the mailbox. We stayed in the FDR room which was spacious with a large bath. The room and bath were spotless and the bed was very comfortable. In our opinion, breakfast was the best part of the visit. It was a lovely appointed table and the eggs Benedict was delicious. Interestingly, the baked oatmeal left the most lasting impression. Debbie graciously shares her recipes and it is much appreciated.
We spent 2 lovely nights here, and wish we could have stayed longer.
Our first morning we had waffles, ( fluffy with powdered sugar) bacon, orange juice coffee or tea with a fresh fruit cup. It was the best! The coffee keeps flowing, nice not have to ask, the host make sure you have some if you want more, how nice.
The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, WiFi was good. You can have clean towels if needed daily, plus the bed made.
Across from Willam and Mary and close to the historic district. If you need any information the host is very helpful.
Great parking area, plenty of room, for your car, ( even names like Republican Party Only, Democrat Party Only, First Lady, Chief of Staff, Tea Party).
We stayed here June 30th-July 2nd, visiting Williamsburg with friends from Boston. The drive from our home in Arlington, VA normally takes about 2 and 1/2 hours. We planned on visiting Colonial Williamsburg for a couple of hours, prior to checking in at 3 p.m. However, 95 was a traffic nightmare. Thus, we got to the area about a half hour early. I had been the one driving, and was tired, and thought it couldn't hurt to ask if we could check in early.
We knocked, and then one of the group saw a mailbox for "dignitaries" and their key was in the box, so we entered the B & B, thinking we'd see the owners. We made a huge faux pas as that key was for a guest the previous night, and they weren't ready for us. They do really mean 3 p.m. I totally get it, as it is a B & B, not a hotel.
Our room was the FDR in the West wing, which my husband and I loved. King sized bed which was very comfortable, and 2 nice wing chairs. Cool memorabilia throughout the room.
Breakfast is at 9, but you can get coffee at 7:30 a.m Breakfast was great; Debbie made Belgian waffles with fresh berries.
Our last night we wanted to play cards and John nicely set out some wine for us.
I came away loving the whole place; I was pretty aware of John's political views, and some might find that off putting, but I figure it is his B & B, and even if I doubt we'd agree on many political issues, he was a wonderful host, with a great place. And, it is a politically themed B & B after-all.
There's a great library too.
Spent 4 nights at this lovely place. Across the street from William and Mary and an easy walk to Colonial Williamsburg. We had the Roosevelt Suite and it was so spacious, nice sitting room and comfortable bed. The breakfasts are wonderful and the hosts are very helpful on restaurants to eat at. Highly recommended!
our hosts were extremely helpful, we had our own table to eat in their library, arranged the ceremony, sent me a video collage of it, gave us gift to remember. reservations at a five star restaurant well worth the money
