Beautiful & Serene; Fabulous Owners; Unique Refund/Return-Stay Cerificate
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I stayed at Westshire Farms once this past October and returned for two more stays in November, that is how lovely and peaceful it is. It is unique for many reasons--read to the end for the best! First, I have seen all the rooms and would be happy to book any as they are all charming, clean, including clean windows & sliding glass doors, and inviting with patios or balconies and views of the countryside. Some include gas fireplaces with comfy armchairs so you can truly curl up in front of a fire. But the manor house also has a huge, lovely gas fireplace and sofas for all guests' use. This is right off the Solarium where breakfast is also served, a bit of magic to wake up to with the glass windows above and all around, lush, live greenery, and a fireplace at the end of this room too. Katherine and Brian, the new owners, are very friendly and accommodating and have a passion for making this B and B perfect. They are adding nice touches, like the gazebo, the swing for two under the oak tree, and an historically themed walking path to come. They are so nice to the staff, who they kept on, and in turn the staff is also happy and accommodating to guests. Add the Sleep Number beds and countryside quiet in the rolling hills, and I have found I can reliably get a good night's rest here, not to mention a delicious breakfast and days of adventure with all there is to do and see nearby. Most unique & helpful of all, if life or bad weather interferes and you notify up to the day before, you will not be charged for a stay you could not make but instead will be issued a gift certificate to use for a return stay within a year. (Of course you can get a refund two weeks in advance, I believe). No other B & B that I know of does the gift certificate and allows this flexibility. It eliminates disappointment on the guests' part and allows them to return at a better time and find out how great WestShire Farms is!

Tried to make a reservation.

Called on a Friday afternoon. No return call so I left a message on Monday afternoon. Explained I was trying to make a reservation and hadn't received a return call. Tuesday afternoon received a call back message that was rather short and rude.

Knowing that the ownership had changed a made arrangements elsewhere. Too bad. Prior owner ran and efficient and delightful Inn.

Nice visit. We will go back.

We called to see if we could drop our luggage at our room if it was available and were told "sure." We did that and explored the town and fall colors a little more.
Our room was very nice and the common area was comfortable and quiet.
The breakfast the next morning was delicious. We only wish that we had more time to walk the grounds and enjoy the beautiful surroundings; but we were on a schedule. We would love to return very soon.

Making a great transition

This was our first stay at the Inn at Old Virginia and it was great. The inn is in transition with new owners and a new name coming - The Farm. Besides making our stay pleasant and comfortable, they are doing a fabulous job upgrading the property. The food was wonderful and the room very comfortable. We will definitely be back.

Can't wait to go back!

I'm no bed and breakfast expert, but daggone, this place is as close to heaven as one can get without being in West Virginia! Located minutes from I-81, it wasn't difficult to find, but once there I felt that I had found my way home! One passes under a train trestle to enter the grounds of "The Farm" and that driveway circles the well kept property giving a grand tour of the place. Check in at the main house, and new innkeeper Katherine just might bring you up to speed on her vision for this southern charmed historical property. The quaint town of Staunton is just minutes away and she provided several recommendations for dinner, all of the innkeepers have tried. Ask about local attractions. They are a font of information! I stayed in one of the 3 upstairs guest rooms in the Windsor House (the majority of guest rooms are found a few steps away in the Millstone House) and only had to walk downstairs to the main floor to find snacks (including homemade snickerdoodle cookies warm from the oven) and Keurig machines with a nice variety of coffees and teas to satisfy evening cravings. My guest room had everything I needed and then some. Plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, hair dryer and other necessities supplied in the spacious en suite bathroom. Delightful touches from night lights, free wifi, flat screen tv to a sleep number bed, all welcomed me and made me feel hugged! I was able to choose my breakfast time and the chef specializing in farm-to-table delights outdid himself! Choice of juices, coffees and teas on the sideboard of course were the preamble to a bowl of fresh beautiful strawberry pieces swimming in a delicious creaminess. The main attraction this day in the gorgeous solarium were slices of locally sourced crispy bacon and big pancakes of the blueberry variety: big, beautiful, bursting-with-goodness fresh blueberries! Did I mention this was accompanied by a ramekin of delectable apricot butter? Oh. My. Goodness! Folks, this place is calling me home. And I'm going soon, I hope. That is, if this gem isn't overrun with bookings and I can't get in! lol
