Southern Hospitality at its best...

We had a wonderful time at the Berry Hill Resort! The property takes you back in time...it is breathtaking. The grounds are kept up and are beautiful to walk/hike. We took the bikes provided to us at the front desk for a trip around the 600+ acres. We had dinner at Darby's and the staff...Rebecca? was a delight. The food was excellent. I had fantastic steak and my wife had the special of the night. The rooms are decorated in mid century motif. The mansion house was spectacular along with the Parlor bar. A Must See if you are in Southern Virginia. Well worth staying here!

Berry Hill Resort is an equal mix of wonderful and bad. The grounds and hotel are just beautiful with impressive entrances, rooms, porches and friendly staff. The rooms have towel warmers, plenty of space, beautiful décor and robes but no fridge. A fridge delivery costs extra.
The property also has a gorgeous indoor pool. However, the water is so cold we couldn't attempt a swim all week. We never saw anyone tolerate the cold water. Nice locker-room and sauna, all upgraded and nice. The gym is average with repairs or replacement needed on equipment. Parking is tough due to distance and gravel hill to tread with luggage. Very poor lighting at night, especially given the distance you must walk from car to hotel. Given the wooded location, it's seriously dark. The resort offers bicycles for free use which is nice but the tires are flat.
Overall, this resort is just beautiful and even with the issues, we would return in hopes that problems will get resolved.
Nice free breakfast included. It seems the tavern food is cooked in a separate location then carried to dining across the lawn...not great. The main dining room appears permanently closed.
