How to Get There
The shower in my room wouldn’t drain, I left the housekeeper a note as I had to leave early. I returned that evening, note gone, so I assumed it was corrected. The shower was not fixed, there was no bath mat left. Very disappointed. This used to be a great hotel to stay in here in Roanoke, now, I’ll stay elsewhere when in town.
My husband and I stayed at this hotel on May 8, 2018. We had stayed at this hotel many times in the past and always had a great experience. We travel for business and pleasure so we are frequent hotel guests with memberships with many hotel groups. We had been in our vehicle on the road for over six hours by the time we arrived at this hotel. We checked in, took our luggage to the room and left for dinner since we were meeting associates. By the time we got back into our room, it was late in the evening. Our room was filthy, the bathroom was also not very clean, the beds were sloppily made. We were very disappointed but much too tired to repack and move to another room. We checked out the next morning and advised the staff that we were not pleased with out lodging and that the room
was in terrible condition when we arrived. She provided a business card for the guest services manager who was "unavailable". Upon arriving at home (May 10, 2018) we sent an email to the manager and her assistant with photos that we had taken of the room. She was "off from work" until May 21, 2018. On May 29, 2018, we resent the original email to her with a copy to her assistant. requesting that we be credited for the cost of the stay. As of this date we have not had a reply from anyone regarding this situation. We will never stay there again. I am keeping my letters and photos on file. TRAVELERS BEWARE...
Two false alarms because of maintenance issues at night, NO WIFI in the rooms and even the wifi in the "conference center" was unreliable. My name/reservation was butchered by many people finally corrected on 2nd day. Commendation and honorable mention to those terrific employees who made us feel important: Glenford in the hotel breakfast restaurant Would hire him in a second the man is class; shuttle driver Pay Wiley (ditto) who should be working the front desk and not driving he is wasted where he is. Kimberly Thomason who finally fixed my reservation
PLEASE DO NOT eat at Shula's Served 2 of our party rancid unedible food (mayo had turned) and service was awful Altho we checked in Friday our room was not done until Tuesday and we did complain several times each day I am in a service business. Corporate who run at the top should be fired. We were at Sheraton as it was the conference center picked by our organization no choice for all 300 of us
I stayed here in April for a conference. The actual conference was at another hotel and this was an overflow hotel that our team picked because it was cheaper than the state rate. We will never stay here again. I've actually never left a negative review on TripAdvisor but this hotel really needs to know what they can improve on.
First, the rooms are wholeheartedly filthy. I had ants in several places in my room and I didn't have any food in my room. The bathrooms were also just incredibly dirty and I was just so uncomfortable going to sleep every night wondering if the sheets had been washed. One of my coworkers, one of them being 8 months pregnant, had the dirtiest bathtub I had ever seen and was forced to wait 3 hours while they "re-cleaned" it. Another coworker also had a dirty bathtub and room, so I really think there are just no clean rooms at this hotel.
My biggest issue is the lack of Wifi capability in the rooms. Since I was traveling for work, I attempted to FaceTime my child every day and could not get connection to it at all. Staff was less than helpful when I asked about it and just said, "It's this network right here." I hate that I went over my data usage for the month FaceTiming my child since I could not connect to WiFi there. I mean, it's 2018! How could you not have appropriate WiFi when you claim to be a conference hotel?
I've traveled all over the world (almost 40 countries, all continents except Antarctica) and have stayed in dozens of hotels, and I can undoubtedly say that this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. If we come back for this conference again, we are definitely staying somewhere else.
We stayed in this hotel for a family funeral just two nights. We had 2 adults and 3 kids under 2. My advice- families beware. We had a 2 room suite and thought it would be perfect. But it was absolutely filthy!! We’re afraid to let the kids crawl around on the nasty rug! The only clean space was the bathroom! Hallway rugs were filthy and ripped.
The ‘leather’ chairs at the table were old, peeling and the table was dirty. The linens seemed clean enough. The pool was also not clean. The hotel is obviously old and needs a make over top to bottom.
Breakfast was fine. I gave it 2 stars for the staff-they were all great!
