Great getaway

My wife and I needed a night out. Tickets to a show at Altria and staying a Quirk more than supplied a respite from our daily hustle. The displayed art at Quirk was intriguing and left us wanting more. Maple and Pine did not disappoint. It was delicious, supplying an epicurean delight of flavor and texture. With an easy walk to the theater, we will definitely be back.

Wanted to love it

We recently stayed at the Quirk to celebrate my birthday. After looking at lots of hotel options I decided the Quirk looked like something we would love.

Things I did love ❤️
Love the beautiful lobby and design bringing old elements of the building into modern.
The rooms are vary spacious and modern with a super comfy bed. They used repurposed wood for the bed and flooring which is cool. The shower is very large but they miss the mark with that tiny shower head. Not sure why they didn’t put in a large rain shower.

Awesome mini bar for purchase. I loved the pink ice bucket.

Great location for walking around to restaurants. Rappahannock, Saison and Restaurant right next door (can’t remember the name) were all really good. Richmond has some amazing food.

Not soo great-
When we first arrived we were early, before check in and did not expect our room to be ready. We approached the check in desk but was never really greeted. Most hotels say “welcome or glad to have you” Nothing. I felt like I was an intrusion. He was like you know check in isn’t until the afternoon. The whole check in was just ok. Definitely didn’t get a warm and fuzzy. For a hotel of this caliber and price point I was definitely disappointed.

The front desk, valet and even the coffee barista were not very friendly at all. Barely a hello. However The restaurant staff was all amazing. The manager even offered to charge my phone for me while we were eating as I was waiting for an important call for work. That is the type of service I was expecting.

I really loved the boutique feel of the property but not sure I would go back. I think I would try another property next time.

Fun hotel, huge room, great service.

The room had very tall ceilings and was overall just huge. Very comfortable. Friendly staff at all positions. Strong recommend. Nice views from rooftop bar. Open, welcoming, light-filled environment. Good energy.

Found the Southern Hospitality I was looking for

From the super cute valet to the super easy check in, the quirk has exceeded my expectations in every way. I am especially grateful for the upgrade to the amazing suite (1BR, 1-1/2bath - its AWESOME!!) even if you don’t stay here, be sure to visit the rooftop bar.

The Quirk needs some tweaking

Although the hotel was very attractive and the the staff was friendly, I feel my experience there was not one of my favorite hotel experiences. Little things like not having free coffee and water available in the lobby was disappointing. I was told at the check in that there was free drip coffee only to find out that you had to get it before 7am. This was a leisure trip where getting up before 7am to get free drip coffee was unbelievable. It was a nice that shuttle service was offered but I was told this service was over at 11am. After an evening out, we called to get the shuttle at 10:30 only to be told it over at 10:30 and that there was no one there to pick us up. Another area that could be improved would be to have a sitting area in the courtyard. The rooftop bar was closed early and was not open when we went there at 3pm. Little things like the above mentioned make an impression.
The area appears to be going through a transition and hopefully one day will be a vibrant destination.
