How to Get There
Although there was a major formal event with lots of arrivals when I reached the Hyatt Crystal City on a Friday night, the valet immediately took care of my car, I was instantly checked into a very quiet non-smoking room just as requested, and was met with gracious help from every staff member I encountered.
This is he worst stay in over 70 hotel stays this year.
First the walls of this hotel are thin. You will hear your neighbor using the rest room, and conversations as well as doors slamming down the hall.
You’ll question why you stayed at this hotel as you wait for the few of their working elevators to actually arrive. It’s a long wait.
But you should be more concerned about your security.... - and ability to sleep.
I was woken up by animal like neighbors on the floor that’s insisted on holding a party in their room from 11am to 3am (hotel quiet hours are posted as 9pm-9am they are not enforced). I called security 3 times that evening they came once - after the 3rd call. I asked them to camp out in the hall a bit to observe the periodic running around and back and forth the other guests were up to. They did not.
Security was either not avail or couldn’t be bothered or maybe dealing with more serious issues. Not safe.
Restaurant staff were polite.
I stayed at this hotel for a short business meeting and it was my first time to stay at the property. It is conveniently located close to Reagan National Airport. All three times I went to the front desk (including check in) there was only one person working--so there was wait time. Staff was friendly/helpful though. My room was ok--clean but a bit dated. Everything worked as expected. Overall, my stay was ok--nothing overwhelming but also nothing went wrong.
