Hotel beds were super comfy. Staff was great! Food in the restaurant was good. Only wished they had a pool and hot tub but there was so much to do in the area you didn’t miss them too much.
Metro station was closed but Lyft into DC was fast and affordable and much easier, actually.
I spent 2 nights at the Westin Alexandria, and it's a very lovely hotel. My room was large, clean, and comfortable. The bedding and mattress were very comfortable, and I slept well. The bathroom was nice and well-stocked with quality toiletries, and it was very clean. Ample towels were provided. My ONLY complaint on my stay was an on-going issue with the mini-fridge. No one followed up after multiple requests, and while it appears the first non-working fridge may have been replaced, it too never got remotely cold. After a long day at a work event, I returned to find all of my groceries had spoiled. Other than that, it was a good experience.
Kayla was great upon check in. I was impressed at her attentiveness when I was asking my fiance if he remembered the toothpaste and like a magician Kayla placed a complimentary toothpaste in my hand. Originally we were to be placed in room 666 until I told Kayla "absolutely not'. We had a good chuckle about it and were moved to room 770. The room had a nice view. It was well lit and visually appealing however it definitely smelled of smoke. I asked my fiance if he wanted to change rooms again and he thought that just maybe the smell would dissipate once we returned for the evening. We returned to the hotel several hours later and the smell had went away enough that it wasn't completely obnoxious but it was still noticeable to us non smokers. The worst part though were the towels in the bathroom. Being a former boutique hotel associate has it's ups and downs and you pay attention to everything. Apparently housekeeping noticed that the robe was never used and the last towel under the sink had been unused and they decided it wasn't worthwhile to swap it out for new ones because once I tried to use it I immediately was overcome by the smell of funky cigarette smoke! All the other towels were clean and smelled fresh! This towel was never replaced! I took the towel and robe to my fiance to verify and he too knew exactly what kind of lack of attention that was obviously given by housekeeping. I requested to speak to a manager in housekeeping or the manager on duty regarding this issue and was met with a lackluster apology at check out and no follow up. Also, we had called for our truck before heading to check out 15 minutes prior and had to wait another 15 minutes or so before they came with the truck and it wasn't a busy morning nor were they understaffed. I'm disappointed to say the least as this was my very first stay at a Westin.
