Too hot to enjoy...
Reviewed 4 days ago

What a great location, what an attentive staff, and such delicious food! However, if you cannot sleep at night because your room is too hot, it’s hard to value everything else.

The hotel evidently has a problem with its A/C system. When the temperature is warm outside, they seem to be unable to adjust the temperature in their rooms. They claim they reduce the minimum temperature but my room and those of other fellow travelers were like saunas at night. I got rid of the quilt they use and asked for just a cotton sheet to cover myself. Even with this lighter cover I sweated and tossed and turned all night.

I was part of a tour, and several fellow travelers also complained about the uncomfortably hot temperatures in their rooms. Neither the manager nor the staff could offer a real solution although they tried. They took me to other rooms to see if I wanted to change. The temp was as warm as in my room. They offered a fan, and that would have been blowing more hot air (as reported by other travelers who accepted the fan). Bottom line is the hotel seems to be ready to become a 3-star hotel rather than anticipate what their customers need when the temperature in Vilnius is warm. Why should one pay 5-star hotel rates to sleep in a sauna?

Mixed Review

I have very mixed feeling regarding my recent stay at the Kempinski. The location of the hotel is supurb across from the main catherdral square, the service was wonderful, and the food, particularly the breakfast offering, was outstanding but there was a major problem.
I prefer not to write negative comments regarding a hotel without discussing the issue with local management, which I did without much satisfaction, before documenting a review in order to help fellow traveling consumers. In this case the Kempinski, in my estimation, forgets the fundamental reason for staying at a fine hotel which is to enjoy a good nights sleep.
Upon arrival we noted that the hotel mattresses were extremely soft. They removed the top conforter and placed a sheet of plywood between the box spring and mattress. No luck. Both my wife and I woke with terrible back pain. I spoke to management regarding the issue. They showed us a few different rooms but they all had old soft mattresses. I ended up sleeping in a roll-away bed for 3 nights to enjoy only a slightly firmer mattress. My wife continued to sleep on the super soft bad mattresses. I endured but my wife's back pain worsened. In fact after our next stop in Lativa we had to end our trip which was to include Estonia and return to the US. How dissappointing and expensive to be sure. This problem at the beginning of our trip really ruined our vacation. The takeaway from this review is if you have a back issue caused by sleeping on a sub-par mattress you might want to rethink your choice of staying at the Kempinski.

It is within walking distance of a lot of sites and right across the street from the cathedral. Great place to stay. Was booked into this place by tour group but would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Vilnius.

The Best Hotel in Lithuania
Reviewed 1 week ago

We had a great experience again with the Kempinski hotels. This hotel was equal to the exceptional Adlon Kempinski in Berlin. The warm staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay in Vilnius. The Lady in Red, Aleksandra, helped plan our travels throughout the city and rest of Lithuania. The breakfasts were superb. The hotel was exquisitely appointed, like other Kempinski hotels, and the rooms were luxurious and spacious. This rates with the finest hotels in Europe. We look forward to our return.

Terrific 5-star hotel

The Kempemski is located just at the edge of the Old Town in a perfect place to walk to everything. The minute you walk into the expansive lobby, where someone can sometimes be found playing the grand piano, you know this is a top-of-the-line hotel. The staff is friendly and welcoming and especially efficient. Our luggage was delivered to the room before we even finished the registration process.

The breakfast buffet has all the expected items and the staff will prepare eggs for you. There is a small bar, but several times we sat in the lobby and a waiter came and took our drink orders, and brought us snacks, as well.

The rooms are large and fully equiped, with separate tub and shower, which I especially like because European tubs have such high sides.
