Terrible food experience
Reviewed 2 days ago

If you can imagine sitting in a fridge (yes it was sooo cold) and getting a scoop of mash yes not ice cream but mash with your circular shaped pork and thinking it’s going to be nice then I’d recommend this place. (The Cedar Room). There are two restaurants so I can’t comment on the other one. I would suggest going to The Lighthouse, Tamarisk (Cambridge) or The Ocean Club and you’ll have a quality meal 👍 It’s the only time we’ve wanted to get out of a place. We arrived and left in 30mins. In fact it took longer to get a taxi than it did to eat If you want quality then I would avoid..

Relaxed and Refreshed

Pompano is a wonderful piece of old Bermuda. While coats and ties are no longer expected at dinner, the atmosphere remains charming. We chose the meal plan, as do most. Reviews suggest that some of the rooms appear tired. We were quite comfortable and understand the challenges of maintenance on an island surrounded by the salt. Our views were spectacular and the service was excellent. Larry is a graceful host and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and like family. All part of the experience.

The proximity to Port Royal golf course is a bonus. Make sure to play at least two days at the course. Getting around can be expensive if you rely on taxis, so get a bus pass book or rent a scooter. The scooter allowed us to hit most every road and check out the beaches and views. The South Shore beaches are the best.

We will certainly be back again to enjoy the many shades of blue.

5 star service, but 3 star hotel
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Just returned from a stay at Pompano Beach Club after a 5 night stay and first time in Bermuda.
Pros: The service and staff of the hotel all deserve 5 stars. Larry Lamb was present most of the time, helping with taxiing people to and from the bus stop, serving drinks on Rum Swizzle night and just making sure everyone was well taken care of. ALL of the staff, from the front desk (Archer and Kevin were always on hand to help out and answer any questions, to the bar (Lee in particular) and dinner staff. Bubbles Darryl the entertainer was a lot of fun if you like 70's and 80's music. Everyone is SO friendly.
The views are out of this world, but a bit far from the airport. Be prepared to pay $70 for taxi. Our room had a private balcony with a spectacular view. The rooms were clean and spacious, large bathrooms. I absolutely loved the family feel to the resort.

Cons: We felt the resort needed some attention. The room had a musty smell and looked pretty dated, but was clean. The stairs to the beach need to be completely re-done. They are concrete stairs with untreated wooden railings, not very inviting. The walls headed down to the beach are just plain concrete with mold running down the walls. They kept the beach clean of seaweed and you can walk a long way out in knee deep blue clear water. BUT, very disappointed that the beach rental hut was not open. So if going and you plan on using any of the water sports equipment that is included, make sure it is later in May. We would have liked to use the paddle boards or kayaks but not available, or just have towels available at the beach. Have to hike up 4-5 flights of stairs to get back to towels or drinks.
The ceiling and floor area to the dining were cracked and looked like it had leaks. Just really needs some TLC and this would be a 5 star place.
Meals - they were okay. It was good to have the meal plan but it was a bit above cruise ship fare. Not very impressed.

I would stay here definitely if they refurbished the hotel because of the family feel you get the minute you walk in to the hotel. If they don't update it, I probably would chose another resort. We visited the Cambridge and the Reefs and compared to those two, this was old and run down. Of course they are more expensive, but a little TLC to this place would go a long way.

Wonderful place to stay!

Just returned from 5 days at the Pompano Beach Club with my two sisters.. It's a small hotel (only 75 rooms) with very personal attention. The service is excellent, rooms were very comfortable and up to date with comfortable beds, a.beautiful big bathroom and a patio overlooking the water. We especially liked that breakfast and dinner were included in the nightly rate. A great deal! Breakfast was delicious and served on the deck overlooking the ocean. Dinner was five courses and also delicious! Front desk staff were very helpful and knowledgable. Hotel staff will also drive you to the nearby bus stop or to the rail trail down the street. Private beach is beautiful but be aware that it's down at least three sets of stairs. Loved the poolside bar! Would love to stay there again if we get back to Bermuda!

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Pompano Beach Club. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating, they could not do enough for us. The resort is very relaxed and the private beach was wonderful. The food was absolutely amazing - cannot wait to return!
