The Lowdown

Historic chic abounds at the five-star Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof, built in the heart of Vienna in 1913. This beautiful hotel stands proudly in the bustling center of the city’s first district, just a few steps from the Hofburg Imperial Palace and within walking distance of a variety of fabulous attractions, shops and restaurants. And having earned a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, this luxe property has a lot more to offer than just its location.
You’ll love the 21st-century interpretations of various interior décor styles, from Baroque to Art Deco, and the inviting spa program at the wellness center will settle you into total peace and relaxation. Work out in the gym, or go for a scenic jog in the pretty Hofburg gardens, just a few minutes away. And when you’re hungry, Restaurant Herrlich’s exquisite cuisine and Café Herrenhof’s delectable coffee and Viennese pastries are sure to hit the spot.

Designed by Viennese atelier Einwaller, the interiors of this luxe property offer 21st-century interpretations of various styles, from Baroque to Art Deco. Each 375-square-foot Deluxe room features a king-sized bed or two separate beds, a work desk and a bathroom with a tub or shower.

Restaurant Herrlich offers sophisticated Austrian and Viennese specialties in ambient and relaxed surroundings. For something different, we recommend the four-course goose menu. Meanwhile, at Café Herrenhof, you can nibble away on Viennese pastries with coffee by day, or sip cocktails to the soothing sound of live piano music by night.

The hotel’s sleek wellness center, Spa World Comfort, is an impressive space, spanning two floors and covering 2,960 square feet. You’ll find a steam room, a sauna and a soothing relaxation zone, as well as a complete menu of massage and beauty treatments.

Beautiful hotel, centrally located, friendly staff

I stayed here for 5 nights in July with my wife while we were on business. The hotel was centrally located and walking distance to tons of restaurants and attractions (parks, museums, etc). The staff was very friendly. On of the gents at the front desk called around to several restaurants to get us a last minute reservation, then called a cab and since he was about to end his shift he hand delivered the restaurant information to our room. Great service and the recommended restaurant was excellent. The bar tender in the lounge was also extremely helpful, showing us several drinks that we'd not heard of and making up something special for my wife's particular tastes. Who knew she liked an Old Fashion with Brandy instead of Bourbon?

I would definitely book this hotel again on my next stay in Vienna.

Great stay, at the heart of Vienna shopping centre, 5 minutes from Stephansplatz.
Modern spacious deluxe rooms (hard mattresses if you enjoy those), rich breakfast. No pool. The staff is friendly and helpful.
