How to Get There
This hotel is superb. I haven't spent this long over a breakfast in any hotel - not only is the food excellent, but the seating area to have your breakfast in is beautiful with comfortable lounge chairs, and with a time range of 06.30am - 11:00am for breakfast it meant we sat there for a couple of hours, grazing on the superb spread and reading the newspapers whilst taking in the art on the walls and reading the art books from the shelves. A wonderful experience.
The hotel itself is within a typically historical Viennese building - tall windows, high ceilings and art deco staircases and tiled entrance halls. There is art on every wall and every last detail down to the postcards, shower gel, sweets and cakes and organic teas in the afternoon, honesty bar in the evening, has all been carefully thought through. Stunning.
And just to add - the staff on arrival, the maids - all were very helpful, friendly and full of smiles.
The beds are very comfy, and the rooms have plenty of space. We had a room on the front and it was very quiet - we couldn't hear a peep from outside, above or next door.
From the moment we arrived until we leave today this hotel has not put a foot wrong. The staff are freindly and courteous, the breakfast every morning has been fresh and plentiful. The rooms are funky and exactly what we required. A special mention to the bathroom products......they were so lovely. We grabbed bikes at no charge and explored the city. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel....just amazing all round.
We stayed three nights and each morning, the breakfast was better than the day before! Breakfast was fantastic! The hotel is very nice, everything was beautiful and the rooms spacious. Only negative, the bed was ok, not great.
Overall, I loved our stay. The walk to the main part of town was pleasant, a little further than I would have liked, but the breakfast made it worthwhile. We only were able to enjoy the 4-6pm snacks on one day, mostly because when we left in the morning, we didn’t return until after dinner.
If you don’t mind a 30 minute walk to the museum’s, tours and Graben, consider this hotel!
It's simply a flawless hotel. The staff are so helpful and they operate in both English and German quite well. Lovely afternoon tea and the cakes are so tasty. The little shop in the reception is quite chic and they have sourced some beautiful cufflinks. Rooms are stylishly fitted and every detail is so hearty. Location is perfect. Almost want to go back to Vienna again just for this hotel.
We recently returned to the Altstadt after a previous stay in 2014. We were, again, highly impressed with this hotel and its staff. The Altstadt really is a gem and we would recommend it without reservation as a high-quality boutique hotel in a great location for a visit to Vienna.
