How to Get There
Our stay in Vienna was enhanced by this fine hotel. The morning breakfast is delicious (their coffee is exceptional, and the teas quite marvelous, too. The buffet menu is thoughtfully chosen, and filling). Afternoon tea on a rainy afternoon was lovely. Staff are terrific with helpful directions, selling day passes for public transportation, etc. we hated to leave.
I had an excellent stay in the Felix suite. The hotel is centrally located, very easy and quick walk to the museum quarter and old Vienna. The highlight for me was the wonderful and friendly staff. They were able to answer all my questions, and gave great tips on how to explore the city. The breakfast and tea time meals are not to be missed. Whether it's starting your day or resting from a long day of exploring, the salon is a great place to sit and relax.
We stayed at the Altstadt for three nights and it exceeded our expectations which were fairly high given its high rating on Trip Advisor. The Altstadt's approach may be quirky for those who are looking for a conventional hotel but give us this experience every time. The room we had was beautiful and spacious with high ceilings. The breakfast was tasty and high quality. Only difficulty we experienced was the WiFi was not always reliable but since we were there on pleasure, it was not a big issue. The real prize at the Altstadt was the fantastic service at reception. Lisa in particular was fantastic and could not have been more helpful. We cannot say enough about her. If you like boutique style hotels and want a unique experience, we would highly recommend the Altstadt.
The hotel is good located and near (5 minutes walk) to Musems Quartier / Mariahilferstrasse - which is advantage. Rooms - every room is different, so really depend what you have. I saw 6 different rooms and they were from excellent to average. Sizes are also different - I had really small bathroom.
I would say - a bit to expensive for such quality. .
Staff at reception very nice and helpful, staff by restaurant a bit less nice.
This boutique gem of a hotel is tucked away in the old Vienna section of town. It was only seven minutes from the metro train. Our beautiful room had 18 foot ceilings, a chandelier, heated floors in the bathroom and all the modern conveniences of extra electrical outlets in the room, wi-fi and even a free cell phone to use. The breakfast offers the best buffet in all of Europe. You want for nothing. The concierge help with everything to obtaining tour tickets to mapping out directions.. and all with a smile. Truly one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed in in years.
