How to Get There
Where to start ! The rooms are amazing each one different each one special . The staff are accommodating and knowledgable . The breakfasts relaxed and never ending . The Easter bunny bread rolls were inspirational . This is not your normal chain hotel . It is a one of a very special kind .
My first stay in Vienna and I’ve picked a cracker of a hotel. This is not your typical Hotel this is different, it’s classy, it’s bespoke, it takes you back to a Vienna of a different time.
Don’t be put off by the entrance, you can take the small lift to the first floor reception or you can take the stairs and let them transport you to another World.
Just going up the stairs is like being in the film set of black and white spy movie of the Cold War era especially as you climb the steps to the top floors.
Reception is great everyone speaks good English and are very helpful.
On the first floor is the breakfast lounge which you can also use in the evening, it has an honesty bar, the atmosphere is terrific.
The breakfast experience is different from your average hotel and a very pleasant experience but it can get busy at times.
The rooms are amazing, all bespoke and full of interest.
I was staying up near the top of the building and the views over the rooftops was incredible,
The bathroom was great with all the amenities you would expect, their is plenty of storage space which was great as we were staying for a few nights.
The decor of the room was a real feature, it set us up for a great visit to this very interesting city.
Bed was comfortable (well I think it was as I slept so well every night here)
I must find time to revisit this wonderful hotel, it was an incredible experience, thank you Altstadt you are simply superb.
Amazing hotel almost better no in-house restaurant as they really go out of thier way to provide recommendations and tips. Also Ulrich and Elrich are great and almost next door. We stayed in two different suites and both lovely and inidvidual while functional. Best breakfast ever.
We LOVE the Hotel Altstadt! Set just outside of the Museums Quarter the location is perfect if you like to walk as we do. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is courteous, friendly and helpful. As a Chef, I can't say enough about the bountiful Breakfast Buffet which is supplemented with a small egg dish or small sweet entree. In the late afternoon, coffee/tea with sweets are available in their lovely, peaceful Salon/Lounge which offers an "Honesty Bar" later in the evening. Check in with the hotel staff about dining options. Vienna has a terrific food scene. Don't be afraid to go off the beaten path This place has it all! We will be back!
When we first entered the Altstadt I was not so sure we had made a good decision. There is no formal entrance on the ground level, and we had to walk through construction to get to the second level reception area. At first glance there did not seem to be comfortable places to lounge. It took about an hour to fall in love, but a magical transition did occur and n the end, our group of four were completely smitten especially after discovering lovely rooms and an entire multi-room sitting/eating/drinking area behind closed doors. The neighborhood, slightly above the museum quarter, was a delight of funky eateries and small boutiques. The Altstadt staff could not have been more helpful. A++.
