How to Get There
I have stayed in many fine hotels in the course of my career. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of those hotels where the staff seemed dedicated to making sure that everything went right. This is one of those special hotels.
Everyone from the front desk people who did the almost impossible in finding where we could get our son First Vienna Football gear and setting up a visit, to the dining room staff who always had a smile at breakfast, went out of their way to make our visit memorable.
The location was an easy walk to either a street full of quirky cafes, or a block full of museums. Whatever you want to do is within reach. Combine that with a staff that is genuinely friendly and helpful, and you have winning combination and a great experience.
Stayed at San Souci for 4 nights as a family of four. The front desk very professional and helpful. The hotel has a nice blend of old world charm with a modern flair.
We loved the intimate bar off the lobby for happy hour especially Julio.
The breakfast was great but the pancakes were out of this world.
The rooms were very comfortable and generous in size.
The location was ideal with a short walk to the palace and right next to the museum quarter.
We booked this hotel because of its reviews on Trip Advisor and I really wanted to be wowed by the experience but I'm sad to say I wasn't. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but it could have been better in a number of ways.
Check-in - staff friendly enough but noticed that we were not being given the same level of welcome as other guests (we got cold face clothes to freshen up - they were getting complimentary drinks, etc.), which made me feel less valued as a client as soon as I got there. Guess they must have been in a better room to warrant better treatment but does it have to be so blatant.
Room - very small - with only shower (no bath) - aware of this when booking but to be honest was disappointed with the room and its position. Had much better in other hotels for the same price or less.
TV - English language channels restricted to news only. Movies - pay for TV - very limited selection (just 11 films to choose from) and they were all quite old.
Room was overlooking side street - was kept awake by traffic noise from around 5.00am and also rumblings from the underground station which was nearby. Sound proofing also not adequate to keep out noise made by other hotel guests and their noisy night time antics (the polite way of putting it). Not impressed!
Location - it's not really within walking distance of the centre - but the underground is just 2 minutes away from the hotel and it's a very efficient service made getting around easy and cheap enough.
Breakfast - the best bit about the hotel. Lovely selection of everything you could need. Even vegan options, which I was very happy about.
Overall, nice enough hotel but think there must be hotels in Vienna offering better rooms and facilities for the same price - or same standard at a lower price.
This is a lovely hotel just outside the Vienna ring but still within walking distance. The lobby was gorgeous and so was our junior suite room. It was large and beautifully and tastefully decorated. There were two bathrooms. The main one had double sinks, a separate shower and large tub. It also had a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There was also another separate bathroom with a bidet toilet with optional heated seat and another sink. The breakfast was great with variety of items including different cheeses, meats, smoothie of the day, and many type of hot food items such as eggs and pancakes that you can request. We also really appreciated the impeccable service they provided throughout our stay. All in all, it was an excellent experience. We highly recommend.
We stay in luxury hotels globally and have done for decades. So when I say we rated this hotel as one of the best ever it’s saying that it’s truly special.
From the greeting through check in, the room, the bed, the shower, the spa, the restaurant, the bar, the people to check out over 3 days, our stay was faultless.
Would only stay here in Vienna!
