How to Get There
A truly wonderful hotel and the staff are amazing and can not do enough for you. From the moment we checked in, right through to the staff in the restaurant, and arranging our pick up and drop off at the station.
The room was fantastic. The décor is lovely.
It is a great place to stay to enjoy all the Vienna offers as it is easy to get around.
We were recommended to take the horse and carriage ride and although we were a bit reluctant, we were so glad we did, as we went to places we would never have gone and we would have missed so much.
My partner and I stayed in this hotel for a week back in August and it was amazing. On arrival a bell boy took our bags into the hotel and provided us with ice cold water and a cool flannel while we checked in. This was a god send in the 35 degree heat! The receptionist provided us with a map and asked us if there was anything in particular we were interested in. When we told him he marked on the map where we could go. When we asked about restaurants and bars he also provided us with a list of recommendations. The bell boy took us to our room and explained certain features such as the electric blinds and tv (which was hidden behind a mirror).
The room itself was beautiful, luxurious and smelt so fresh. There was a fresh bottle of water provided in the room every day and on occasion there would be truffles or jelly sweets left in the room. It was just the little touches that really made it something special.
We were bed and breakfast because we knew we’d be out and about most days but we did try the dinner one evening. Although it confirmed Austrian food is not for us, it was a great experience and not too expensive considering the quality of the hotel. The breakfast was delicious though. You could have the buffet and/or order freshly cooked items (e.g scrambled eggs). Again, the staff couldn’t do enough for us.
Some evenings on our return to the hotel we would sit outside with a drink. Fortunately instead of having to go inside to order, there was a little button on the table that you press and the barman would come out and take your order. One evening there was a wedding at the hotel so the bar was heaving but even then the barmen would come out and apologise if there was any delay. They would also bring complimentary snacks such as olives and breads.
Finally the one thing that made it (mainly for my partner) is that Wales was playing England while we were there. We checked a few places ourselves but couldn’t find anything so thought we’d try our luck by asking reception if they knew of anywhere. We weren’t hopeful but thought we’d give it a shot. The lady on reception wasn’t clued up with sports but she and another receptionist went online for us and found a newly opened sports bar for us to try. If they did not show it, she believed they would know where we should go - she was right. The sports bar did amazing food and then we went off to an Irish bar to watch the game.
When we checked out we were given a complimentary tin of mints and a small bag to carry passports etc which was a nice touch. The whole experience with Sans Souci was faultless.
The hotel is perfectly located in the museum quarter, between the old city and Neubau. There are many good supermarkets, cafes and restaurants nearby.
The hotel is beautiful, white and clean. The rooms are spacious, the junior suite was excellent- with a separate walk in closet, separate toilet and a big bathroom with both bathtub and walk in rain shower. The bathroom amenities are very good as well.
The hotel also gives complementary coffee in the room with room service.
The wonderful breakfast is served in the excellent Veranda restaurant. There is a lot of variety, fresh fruits, bread and dishes.
I highly recommend staying in The Sans Souci when in Vienna.
