The Lowdown

A member of the Design Hotels™ collection, Hotel Topazz alone makes a great reason for visiting Vienna. Blending cutting-edge architecture with a progressive, eco-minded vision and a superb location near St. Stephen’s Cathedral, this five-star Certificate of Excellence winner is more than just aesthetically impressive. Imagined by architect Michael Manzenreiter, the hotel was one of the first in a recent wave of modern eco-design in Austria’s capital. Cylindrical in shape and bejeweled with staggered oval windows, this boutique hotel stands out as a contemporary gem among its traditionally grand surrounds.
Inspired by the Viennese Modern Age design movement, the vase-like building conceals the seriously opulent interiors. Bedrooms are unsurprisingly edgy and luxurious, while the Salon is dressed like a private turn-of-the-century residence, with one-off lighting features and elegant couches where guests can relax with a newspaper and a few organic nibbles. And the delights don’t stop with the hotel itself. Located in Vienna’s first district, the historic heart of the city, this hip urban retreat puts you just footsteps from the grand museums, squares and Gothic churches of old.
Good to know
Please note that breakfast is served across the street at sister Hotel Lamée, where you’ll also find Café Bar Bloom and The Roof rooftop bar.
Please also note that tea and coffee facilities do not come as standard in rooms; however, an espresso machine can be provided at no extra charge upon request at the hotel.

Awesome Service and Conveniently Located
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

An awesome hotel with a cool vibe! We were able to get early check-in and late check-out (on a weekday mind you) which we were very grateful for. Very conveniently located near lots of shops, English movie theatre (Artis International), cafes, restaurants and Stephansplatz. Our room on the second floor faced the street but it was still very quiet inside. Although the pics online make the room look dark, it wasn't noticeable inside. With the drapes drawn, you can't see any sunlight which made sleeping in quite easy. You can lounge in the funky oval windows.

The beautifully decorated salon downstairs offers a place to lounge with free self-serve coffee, water, tea, fruit and little cookies with lots of magazines to read. No gym although on Google it says there is one. It's not needed as you can walk everywhere outside. The hotel also provides umbrellas if needed. The bathroom looked beautiful inside. Lots of plugs for razors or tooth brush chargers. Faucet had little pressure and slow to react but it's probably because the water was mainly dedicated to the shower pressure which was totally worth it! Totally decked out shower was super lux!

Definitely want to come back soon!!!

Great location in the centre steps from most sightseeing, very friendly and helpful reception, comfortable rooms. I can highly recommend this hotel! They have a lounge where you can grab coffee, tea and cookies during whole day. The breakfast is arranged in a hotel across the street and is tasty, healthy and in a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere as well.

Nice design but acoustics

They were super nice and kind - I got the room hours before check in time.
The room is small but well equipped and nice and elegant designed.
Comfortable shower and nice small balcony.
They have a nice lounge downstairs with free coffee tea and cookies. The breakfast across the street and Lamele was great and generous.

The only problem is the acoustics - I could hear every-time the elevator door opened in my floor. Very annoying!

Awesome hotel

This hotel really did everything right. Leading up to our stay I emailed them with questions and they always enthusiastically and thoughtfully replied. They arranged dinner reservations for us at some excellent restaurants. When we arrived they were just as friendly in person. They remembered that it was our anniversary and surprised us with champagne in the room. The room was perfect. I absolutely loved the windows. They were so cool and so comfortable to lay in while reading a book or catching up on work. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was awesome! Great products provided for the shower as well. The salon was very nice and we really appreciated the free coffee and tea provided. Our one complaint would be that the room got very warm even with us keeping the temp down on the thermostat, but that was a minor issue. Highly recommend! Our favorite hotel during our stay in Vienna.

Stylish & Perfekt for the discerning traveller

A great central location, perfect for walking to all areas of the beautiful old innere stadt, where the architecture is awe inspiring and the range of shops and restaurants amongst the best in world. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and knowledgable. Our 6th floor room was very clean and quiet. Although the Topazz doesn't have a bar or restaurant that didn't detract from the experience one bit and their sister hotel over the road - hotel Lamee - has a stylish bar excellent for people watching as is the first floor cafe and the rooftop bar is a must do. We will definitely come back here for more.
