How to Get There
Just outside the 'ring' in a good neighborhood with tram stop not far away. Quiet spot with the Palace behind used as a conference center. My suite was nice (two rooms) but as the bathroom was near the entry of the sitting room there was a bit of distance to get to the toilet in the middle of the night. That is my only small complaint, otherwise it was fine. Hotel, while not the prettiest to look at from the outside, was functional and catered for conferences.
Not sure if it was the time of the year, but the bar area was always deserted (could not see a bar attendant either) so was not inclined to linger there but go to the many bars and cafes in the surrounding lively area which also included the Lichtenstein Palace and Museum. I walked into the center of the city (about 40 minutes) but there is a tram for those who don't want to walk - just be sure to buy a ticket before you board as I constantly had problems with the on-board ticket machines.
This hotel represented good value and I would recommend it and stay again when next in Vienna. Funny name though - not a strudel in sight!
Beware..Do not get tricked into false advertisement like I did. I have many things to say about this joint(used 2 rooms for 5 nights) so let me count:
1-The picture you see is for the front of the palace adjacent to the "hotel" not of the hotel itself. The hotel entrance is more like a cheap motel on route 66.
2-The room furniture is dated and old.
3-No complimentary water, or coffee in the room.
4-The bathroom stales have yellow/brown stains.
5-Room temperature could not be regulated...(could not sleep as it was so warm).
6-They did not replace/wash wine or water glasses for 3 days.
7-My son and daughter room ran out of shower gel and it was not replaced for 3 days.
On the positive side the front desk staff was helpful and tried to do the right thing.
This hotel is rated 4 stars...?! I would not rate it more than 2.5 or barely 3.
The hotel was only 20 minutes from the centre via tram D and the hotel was clean and roomy with good breakfast. I booked the hotel and flight via British airways with daytime flights from Heathrow for £275 each for 5 days / 4 nights. Such good value and the breakfast was good.
Wonderful staff- very friendly and courteous. We were on 7th floor( do not take it) and asked them to move to 4th floor where he rooms were larger and better AC. Nice steam room, great breakfast. Vivian, Sara and the guy at front desk( can't remember name) were amazingly nice. Location central with stores, trams, subways and buses
My friend and I were based in this really friendly and helpful hotel. Nearest station is Rossauer Länder station. Our room was very clean and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Really nice area and interesting buildings not far away. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful to us. Loved Vienna
