Ah, Vienna. Whether you already love the Austrian city or are discovering it for the first time, it doesn’t get much better than this. DO & CO, a member of the Design Hotel group, is located in the heart of this beautiful destination and just across from world-famous St. Stephen’s Cathedral – you can soak up 360-degree views from almost any point in the building.
The hotel’s exclusive DO & CO restaurant is hot competition for the city’s finest eateries, serving fare ranging from sushi to a modern spin on traditional Austrian dishes. After immersing yourself in the city’s mythical streets, the rooftop terrace and undeniably cool Onyx Bar (located on the sixth floor) are the place to sip a signature cocktail after sundown – just ask local hipsters.
As you would expect from such an established concept hotel, the rooms are stunning and glamorous, with ice-white cotton and geometric throws. These rooms have an atmosphere of urban glamour without being pretentious, and plenty of natural light floods in through large windows.
Your gourmet dining experience starts at the DO&CO Restaurant, where you’ll find a stunning range of dishes, each of the finest quality and presentation. Sample delicious Japanese food such as sushi and sashimi, choose your spices at the interactive wok station, delight in the tasty kebabs at the Oriental Station and, finally, embrace the local culture by trying traditional Austrian dishes. Classic elegance defines this restaurant, from the white tablecloths to the sweeping purple curtains, while wide windows make the space light and airy. The stunning Onx Bar offers picturesque views of Vienna from luxurious and comfortable seating. There’s a wide assortment of cocktails to choose from and lounge music to really set the mood for your evening. 24-hour in-room dining is also available.
You couldn’t ask for a better location in Vienna. The hotel is just opposite the beautiful St. Stephens Cathedral, with views out across the city from almost everywhere in the building. You’re only a two-minute walk from the Vienna State Opera and in a great location to explore the best shops and restaurants in town. The Holmes Place Health Club Boerseplatz, to which you have complimentary access, is just a ten-minute walk away.
How to Get There
Took my wife her - I wanted something special in Vienna to celebrate her birthday & boy, did I make the right choice!
Started off with a warm welcome in Onyx bar before moving up to the 7th floor restaurant- when I booked I had asked for table on the terrace but unfortunately they were fully booked.
However, they didn’t forget my request and when we arrived the hostess said that they’d had a cancellation and we now had a terrace table overlooking the city.
The food was exceptional, as was the service. Add in the sumptuous decor, the view and balmy summer evening in Vienna and it was just the perfect dining experience to celebrate my wife’s birthday.
Taking everything into account, it’s great value too- expect to spend about €200 including wine and drinks but also feel assured that you’re going to leave on a high, thinking it was worth every penny.
Thank you to the staff for making it such a special occasion
Great view, very comfortable room, middle of all the action, view of St. Steven church, nearby restaurants and cafes plus the hotel's own. helpful staff.
Easy access to everywhere. Breakfast in the upstairs balcony with magnificient views.
I will not repeat all you could already read about this hotel: Great Location, Great rooms, Great People at the desk and at the breakfast. Everything perfect. I will come back. But: We booked 2 nights and every thing went well until we went to bed the first day.
First Night: We had at the beginning at 10 PM a bit of noise above us which i thought it came from a not particularly well educated guest but ok..Then from midnight to 2 AM, i had the feeling the executioner of Vienna is on duty this night, and just above us. Heavy Foods Steps, Screaming furniture, Water noise, just terrible. At least at 2 AM , we could start to sleep. Next days at the reception, i asked for an explanation and then have been told by a friendly guy, that he was not really knowing what happened but he would check and come back to me. He did. He told me in the afternoon, that they were some unexpected rehabilitation works done in the night but it is now finished. He offered an aperitif and to change our room to another one. I did not accept this offer because as he told me that it is now finished, i did not saw any reason to move.
2nd Night: Starting the same way with a bit of noise, then as we were exhausted form the kms we walked in Vienna, i felt asleep. Than at 11 midnight the same as the day before.. but with a drilling Machine.. executioner also being doing torture nbow? so waking up.... and felt again asleep..then at 12:40, fire alarm in a room because a lady wanted to dim a light with a towel...towel started to burn, Fire Alarm yelling in our room, Me going in the floor to check, security guys then checking the room (i heard the conversation between the lady and the security guy that' s why i know what happened) then walking back to my room, trying to sleep, the executioner from Vienna still on duty, but felt asleep again, than counter visit from the fire officers from Vienna with radio conversation with the central station..sure you know how it sounds.. so again awake.. than until the executioner finished at about 2 AM. I slept maximum 4 hours as we wanted to leave Vienna early (400 km to drive to another place, it became 800 km but this is another story).
On the next Morning we had the full explanation. As i was paying my bill, the responsible of the hotel walked out of its office to the desk to excuse for the fire alarm. Than i told him the whole story. He was surprised that i have not been correctly informed. We were at the 6th floor. On the 7th floor (which is were we take our breakfast), there is in the evening a restaurant which closed at 1 PM... So no executioner, just the wrong floor if you want to sleep. The responsible was very sorry, mentioned there is a lot of room on the 5th, 4th and third floor which are more adapted, he offered me some compensation, let us see if that happens..but any way: This is a very nice place if you want to discover Vienna and i will come back. But not on the 6th floor. And by the way, thank you to the lady staying in the room 606 on the night from the 10th to the 11th of July. I hope the dimming was worth for what you wanted to do before it burned..(;-)
