Beautiful Vienna, situated in eastern Austria on the Danube River, has a unique energy, informed in part by its heritage of world-famous composers and writers. The stunning city also boasts an intriguing landscape of mountains, woodlands and river trails. Located in Margareten, a well-situated district of the capital, Austria Trend Hotel Ananas puts you among dozens of shops, bars and restaurants. A subway ride will take you to Schönbrunn Palace, the museum district, shops of mouthwatering chocolates, elegant cafés off of cobbled streets and lovely tree-lined parks.
At this four-star charmer, you’ll also find design that lets in lots of light and fuses traditional and modern aesthetics, setting the scene for a relaxing time during your city break. Rooms feature classic styles and modern amenities, for a comfortable and laid-back stay. To continue experiencing your setting, without having to leave, visit the sophisticated restaurant, which allows you to look out over the bustling surroundings while you dine – or head to the café-bar for a taste of the local coffeehouse culture.
Classic rooms at Austria Trend Hotel Ananas combine traditionally inspired interiors with functional modern amenities. Each features wooden floors, sound-proofed windows, calming tones and large, comfortable beds to create a cozy atmosphere.
Breakfast at Sonnenhof restaurant is a delight, what with an array of regional treats, fresh pastries, breads, mueslis and juices from a hot-and-cold buffet. The Johann Strauss Café offers coffees in every style; try the Einspänner with a slice of fruit cake on the side. Come evening, the Restaurant Moser serves a varied menu of local specialties, cooked-to-perfection steaks and delicious sweet dishes.
The hotel is just a short walk from the nearest subway station, offering instant access to the city’s social and cultural scene. The shops of Mariahilfer Straße and the eclectic food stalls of Naschmarkt can be reached on foot. For a truly romantic outing, nab yourself a seat at the State Opera for an evening.
How to Get There
I stayed at this hotel from 30.11 to 02.12.2018.
Although it is considered as a 4 star, it does not deserve it fully. Although the travel agency has paid for the services long before, I stayed very long to be accommodated, about 2 and a half hours, because it is ONLY after 15:00. Moreover, organized groups have priority!
The staff is uncooperative. I do not respond to requests. I complained that she was very cold in the room, at the reception, promised me verbally that the problem would be solved but it was not solved!
Some fellow citizens have warned us not to leave unattended luggage because they are stealing !!
Breakfast is OK, "Swedish Buffet" system and is very satiated!
The position is excellent, at 2 KARLSPLATZ subway stations, is the central area and compensates for all other shortcomings.
In standard situations - all fine. In non-standard - expect the worst.
We are living in Vienna for over 5 years, and when our friends come - recommend them place to stay. This year we discovered Ananas Hotel and already twice booked it for our friends’ stay through booking.com. Both times - no issues, location is good, stay was also fine.
Over week ago was the third time we recommended it while meeting these friends who are planning to come to Vienna, and the experience is that bad -I decided to write a review, so others are really careful.
This time booking was done through hotel website (big mistake of us). Be careful - the booking system is not transparent and doesn’t provide proper information to the customer.
Recommendation: when you see that something is wrong in booking confirmation of this “wonderful” hotel and selected room rate is non-refundable => don’t even try to explain anything to reservation department, or escalating to management. You will lose your money for sure and waste time. Staff will try to prove how stupid you are, don’t expect anything else. Just block your credit card immediately and they won’t be able to charge you.
We selected dates of stay from 6 to 8 of December. If for the selected dates there are no rooms available, normal system shows message, that for these dates rooms are not available. Instead - we were completely surprised when we saw in reservation confirmation, that the booking is confirmed for 5-7 of December (we needed 6-8 of December!!!)
immediately after receiving booking confirmation email with wrong dates, we wrote back that dates are wrong. And we got reply that it happened because there are no free rooms for the dates we selected and they can’t change dates (???). Cancelation is also not possible because we booked non-refundable rate.
If we would see this Information in transparent way earlier - we would not book at all. So the whole booking process on the website of Ananas was misleading.
3 days after - my friend was charged for wrong dates. If I could imagine that staff of hotel Ananas can behave like this - would block the credit card immediately after seeing the wrong booking confirmation dates.
And the staff is replying till now that’s customer’s fault and problem, their process is good.
The next funny thing is when I checked it now - they started to show the message that for selected dates rooms at enjoy available, so the mistake on their side is corrected but they absolutely don’t care that money of customer are lost.
We had to book for our friends different hotel for the needed dates, Ananas is not returning money (they don’t care) and we all carry double costs because of booking system worked in not transparent way.
Escalation to Managing director Mr. Reitbauer didn’t help so far, no reply from him to our emails. If anything changes - I will update this review.
That hotel was very good, breakfast was good, but had a meal in the restaurant one evening which was awful. It does say coffee facilities, however there was no kettle, cups etc on arrival and was told we could hire a kettle for €20 deposit and cups from restaurant but buy tea, coffee and milk from supermarket!
Due to a flight cancellation I was transferred to this (huge) hotel. Not luxury, but a clean room and bathroom. Dinner was OK and correclty served in time. Nice barkeeper, in the morning there was a lot of people in the noisy dining rooms. Not a huge varity to choose from, but the food, bread and coffee was of good quality.
It’s an average hotel, with average amenities. The rooms are small with a very small bathroom. The shower leaves a lot to be desired, was glad we didn’t spend much time here! The breakfast was ok, just nothing to wow me.
