Vienna has no delusions of grandeur. Its hundreds of museums, monuments and libraries drip with preserved Baroque finery and a long history of artistic, scientific and musical luminaries wait, ready to impress. But behind the grand facades, the city is also experiencing a youthful renaissance. The city’s cult-like dedication to coffee and art runs like a lifeline between old and new as vibrant street art and day-to-night cafes pop up here there and everywhere. Grab a bike from Arthotel ANA Katharina and explore the boulevards and backstreets of this stunning city from your stylish hotel in Vienna’s ninth district, a traditional neighborhood where wine bars and cafes abound.
Classic and modern decor meet in the details of Arthotel ANA Katharina and 54 individually styled rooms come heavy with Viennese splendor and whimsy. Rich purples and golds nod to the city’s traditional past while mod-cons and playful artwork bringing the ambience up to date, placed among grown-up greys and hardwood floors. You’ll find a 24-hour shop on-site as well as Dallmayr coffee on tap, handy when you come to plan your day over a cup on the terrace or in the tranquil courtyard. Located opposite the Spittelau train station, you’ll be able to gawp at the vast 18th-century Schönbrunn Palace or dart around the MuseumsQuartier in minutes.
How to Get There
We stayed four nights. As we arrived after 11pm the reception was closed so we had to call the number(there is a tel number u need to dial and they will provide you with an entry code and instructions ). The person who spoke was friendly and very professional. Next morning we did a fast check in. The reception staff is great. Friendly and helpful. The breakfast is complimentary. Not bad - i am a vegan and i still found something to eat. They should change the sweetcorn more often - twice it was spoiled There is a coffee machine in the breakfast room - guests can use it for free up to 10 or 11 pm (not sure). With the rooms not happy at all. The bathtub drain was clog so there was plenty of standing water in the bathtub while taking shower. I found couple of black hairs on the towels. The main light bulb was burnt out so we could use only the bed lights. The rooms are cleaned on reg basis.
Overall we are still happy - great location close to restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets and public transport.
Let Down By Poor Maintenance.
Visited from Tuesday, 11th December, to Saturday, 15th December 2018.
I am not bitter, or vindictive, but surprised at other reviewers positive reports.
• Accessible guests lounge, with excellent coffee machine.
• D tram line stops outside.
• Room very tired, (See photos).
• Too hot, radiator valve does not work.
• Trams are noisy.
• Both Bed lights, (There are no centre lights), not working despite daily reminders to reception.
• No electrical socket to desk.
• No wardrobe.
• No tea/coffee in room. (Says illegal, but other hotels do have Nespresso?).
• Open light switch in corridor.
• Good 25 minutes door to door to the city centre.
Short break with 4 friends and 2 family members. Booked 4 rooms, all of which were very comfortable. Good Beds, wi fi and quite spacious. Bathrooms were all a bit dated but they were adequate and a minor point. Breakfast was limited in variety but was re stocked regularly and was very nice. The girls in there were pleasant and helpful throughout. A nice touch is that the coffee machine is left on until 10pm every night so you can help yourself, free of extra charge.
The reception staff are very efficient and friendly. Noemi is someone I would single out for mention. She was friendly and could not do enough even though she had a number of issues to deal with.
The hotel has excellent access to the tram route D, the stop only about 100 yards away and which can take you to the centre of the city and to the central railway station. It is also only about a quarter of a mile away from the underground station which gives access to U4 and U6 lines and which is easily found as it is landmarked by the large colourful tower that is very obvious in the area.
Will definitely return as the hotel does all it needs to do for a short break.
Very close to the Spitelau Metro Station (700m). You better park at the metro,is very cheap (3,40€) per day. Its a clean hotel in a very quite neighborhood. Rooms are spacy but nothing special. Asked for a double bed and gave us room with 3 singles. Quite hot in the room. Wifi very very fast. Best of all is the breakfast and the free coffee during the day. Breakfast includes the best bacon i have ever eaten, tasty scrambled eggs and big variety of cheeses and hams. You can even make your own waffles!
Lovely spacious room with plenty of power points. Comfy bed and large window that opened. Friendly and helpful staff. Very attractive breakfast buffet - including make your own waffles - delicious. No complimentary water - but as this is Austria, you can drink water from the tap so no problem :)
