How to Get There
We stayed here three nights with a Gate One independent tour. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. We had two twin beds but were traveling as a couple so we pushed the beds together and that worked fine for us. The location is right across the street from a tram station and about a 7 min walk to the metro. It is also close by to a main shopping street and lots of nice neighborhood restaurants.
The breakfast buffet was very good and had lots of tasty options to choose from. We also visited the hotel bar one night and it was empty, but the next night it was mobbed ane very busy and took a while to get a drink. We did not try the hotel restaurant.
We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Rail Discoveries tour. The room was very pleasant - spacious and decent AC. However, the restaurant let us down badly with our dinner on arrival. We were not given a choice and the meal consisted of Pumpkin soup, Cod with ratatouille and polenta and a small cake for desert. This was the second worse meal we have ever had in Europe. To add insult to injury the cheapest bottle of wine was 28 Euros - we had water!
We had meant to eat in the Handwerk Restaurant on our second night and had already printed off the menu at home, but after such an awful meal we ate out before returning to the hotel and bought a bottle of wine for 5.99 Euros from a supermarket to drink in our room.
Would not recommend this hotel or is it just parties that get a rough deal?
The hotel itself was nice however I felt that to have a double bed shoved against 2 walls was rather silly especially as I had to climb into it from the bottom every night. The room was rather small although clean. The bar staff member was very nice and chatty unlike the hotel staff who gave us no information at all. We didn't eat here so unable to comment on the food. I would like to mention that although we loved Vienna this hotel was right in the middle of the red light district...obviously we didn't know this at the time of booking. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
