How to Get There
Centrally located hotel in Melbourne’s CBD in close proximity to all city centre attractions. Hotel is smartly furnished and service is as one would expect from a Hyatt establishment. Service throughout was very good but nothing extraordinary. Breakfast spread was huge but pork was in very scarce supply! Oh for a pork sausage and some decent bacon !
We found that the Grand Hyatt was in a convenient location for Federation Square and Bourke Street Mall. We had a lovely view of the river. Pillows were rather soft but they were happy to swap them for foam pillows.
Stayed over at the Grand Hyatt for 2 nights over a long weekend.
The room: good size and clean but somehow felt a bit old/tired. Nothing too bad, just that we were expecting something special for the price paid and the brand.
Bed: very comfortable and great size
Bathroom: well designed and luxurious. Clean for the most part but not spotless.
Breakfast: top quality preparation and presentation. Really good variety too.
Overall: In my view, Australian 5 star hotels, generally, don't have the same class/value as those in South/East Asia. I would give it a 4 star and probably try another one next time...
We have stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne on numerous occasions, when down on business or for the Melbourne Cup or the tennis in January.
The rooms are fine and its worth paying a little extra to get Club level for evening canapés and breakfast.
The check-in service is good and the room is nearly always available on time. The amenities in the room are quality and the Wi-Fi seems perfect.
The porters are very good at remembering previous guests.
The bar area is ideal for a cocktail after dinner.
Finally the location in Collins Street is excellent for meetings or shopping.
The grand hyatt was everything I expected. It was elegant and inviting. Located right in the city, close walk to the Docklands,as well as to Bourke street, China town and surrounding shopping centres. Close to fantastic restaurants and cute laneways. The staff were friendly and willing to assist. We informed them that we were celebrating our anniversary and were instantly upgraded to Yarra river and city views. We received a beautiful card wishing us a happy anniversary, along with a fruit plater and wine complimentary which we thought was a lovely gesture! I especially enjoyed our room; the room was spacious the view was spectacular, the bed was very very comfortable and I also loved how many mirrors and lights in the room. Can’t wait to return!
