How to Get There
Nothing like a Marriott used to be. It wasn’t that there isn’t any on site parking and you have to park 4 blocks away and hump your bags back to hotel which galled me, it was the complete and utter indifference of the doorman and check in clerk not to mitigate the inconvenience by offering to put bags into the room or storage while we parked. It wasn’t the children playing hockey in the hall outside my room until all hours that irked me, it was the front desks absolute refusal to take any action. It wasn’t having to leave the restaurant and eat in the pub next door because of kids running amok and squealing in the lobby that disappointed me, it was the Concierge doing nothing about it. On the plus side the rooms are good, old but comfortable, save for the noisy old air conditioning but it’s easily turned off. The location is great. One good thing? There is a DoubleTree right next door, stay there instead.
I was staying here for 2 nights with my mother, husband and daughter. My mother has mobility issues and uses a walker to get around. The rooms are a bit small, but she was able to get around. Also, the staff was fantastic! Very helpful. They have a nice indoor pool area and a patio relax in. I would stay here again if I am traveling to Victoria.
Just spent a night here, in between destinations. Staff were so amazing and welcoming....felt like we were coming home every time we entered after a dog walk or outing. Close to downtown shopping and attractions, and green space for dog walks (beware of those squirrels, though).
