Overview

Refined boutique hotel in downtown Victoria, with a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and tranquil spa

The Lowdown

Set on a corner block in the heart of downtown Victoria–just two blocks from bustling Inner Harbour–this streamlined 64-room stay offers the intimacy of a boutique inn with the amenities of a luxury business hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated in a muted color scheme of silver, grey, and charcoal, and every bathroom features marble surfaces galore and a deep soaking tub. After a day spent exploring the city, return to the Magnolia Spa for a hot stone or scalp and neck massage, before heading to Catalano Restaurant & Cicchetti Bar for Mediterranean-inspired small plates and rustic main dishes.

In the Area

Put on your walking shoes and head out to explore cosmopolitan Victoria. First stop: the country’s oldest Chinatown, situated in a few blocks around Store and Government streets. Stroll it on your own or join a tour like Old Chinatown to find out more about this living museum, which includes novelties like Fan Tan Alley, the city’s narrowest street. Browse a wide range of teas at Silk Road Tea Store, which also stocks natural beauty products, then stock up on Asian treasures at Chintz & Company, which carries everything from exotic textiles to delicate ceramics. Recharge at Foo Food on flavor-filled noodle and curry dishes inspired by Asian street stalls.

Excellent Service

I stayed at the Magnolia while my husband was in the hospital. The staff were warm and friendly, and went beyond the call of duty to personalize my visit. My room was beautiful and very clean. The restaurant served excellent meals. I really appreciated the valet service — my car was always right at the front door when I needed it. This has been my best hotel experience in Victoria!

We've found our go-to hotel for Victoria.

It was our first stay here but from now on, we won't plan to stay anywhere else when we overnight in Victoria. Friendly, efficient staff, elegant decor, comfortable bed, thoughtful amenities, central location. The restaurant was pleasant and their food very good. The themed walking maps were helpful although they need one for bakeries and kitchen stores.

Perfect location for a trip to Victoria

I had the pleasure of staying at the Magnolia Hotel and Spa during a recent trip to Victoria. I can see why this hotel receives top ratings from its guests. It is a small hotel but it scores big on services and location. The staff are friendly, the rooms pleasing (ours had a fireplace) and the bar/restaurant excellent. Our room included a continental breakfast but should you prefer a full breakfast we were offered a $10 credit per person towards any items listed on the full breakfast menu. The hotel is in an excellent location. It is very close to the harbour, museums, restaurants, shopping and the hop-on hop-off bus stop in front of the Empress Hotel. We stayed in Victoria for 10 days and other than taking a cab to and from the airport, we never needed a car once. I would certainly stay at this hotel again should I return to Victoria.
