Refined boutique hotel in downtown Victoria, with a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and tranquil spa

The Lowdown

Set on a corner block in the heart of downtown Victoria–just two blocks from bustling Inner Harbour–this streamlined 64-room stay offers the intimacy of a boutique inn with the amenities of a luxury business hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated in a muted color scheme of silver, grey, and charcoal, and every bathroom features marble surfaces galore and a deep soaking tub. After a day spent exploring the city, return to the Magnolia Spa for a hot stone or scalp and neck massage, before heading to Catalano Restaurant & Cicchetti Bar for Mediterranean-inspired small plates and rustic main dishes.

In the Area

Put on your walking shoes and head out to explore cosmopolitan Victoria. First stop: the country’s oldest Chinatown, situated in a few blocks around Store and Government streets. Stroll it on your own or join a tour like Old Chinatown to find out more about this living museum, which includes novelties like Fan Tan Alley, the city’s narrowest street. Browse a wide range of teas at Silk Road Tea Store, which also stocks natural beauty products, then stock up on Asian treasures at Chintz & Company, which carries everything from exotic textiles to delicate ceramics. Recharge at Foo Food on flavor-filled noodle and curry dishes inspired by Asian street stalls.

We had a large corner room which spacious, light and very comfortable. Staff, particularly Peter, was very gracious and helpful. Hits the right note of comfort and luxury without pretense.

also very conveniently located.

Magnolia is ALWAYS excellent!

I have stayed at the Magnolia a number of times since it first opened. The customer service is outstanding, as is the attention to detail. If you request something on one of your stays (i.e., an extra luggage rack), they will make a note of it, and the next time you stay, it will already have been looked after. Everyone I encounter there is always friendly and polite. The rooms are super clean, the beds extremely comfortable, the decor is beautiful - what more could you ask for?
