Overview

Refined boutique hotel in downtown Victoria, with a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and tranquil spa

The Lowdown

Set on a corner block in the heart of downtown Victoria–just two blocks from bustling Inner Harbour–this streamlined 64-room stay offers the intimacy of a boutique inn with the amenities of a luxury business hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated in a muted color scheme of silver, grey, and charcoal, and every bathroom features marble surfaces galore and a deep soaking tub. After a day spent exploring the city, return to the Magnolia Spa for a hot stone or scalp and neck massage, before heading to Catalano Restaurant & Cicchetti Bar for Mediterranean-inspired small plates and rustic main dishes.

In the Area

Put on your walking shoes and head out to explore cosmopolitan Victoria. First stop: the country’s oldest Chinatown, situated in a few blocks around Store and Government streets. Stroll it on your own or join a tour like Old Chinatown to find out more about this living museum, which includes novelties like Fan Tan Alley, the city’s narrowest street. Browse a wide range of teas at Silk Road Tea Store, which also stocks natural beauty products, then stock up on Asian treasures at Chintz & Company, which carries everything from exotic textiles to delicate ceramics. Recharge at Foo Food on flavor-filled noodle and curry dishes inspired by Asian street stalls.

Total Comfort and Convenience in Victoria

This hotel and its excellent staff re-enforce the excellent reviews that the hotel contnues to earn. Our room was so, so quiet—totally restful, tastefully done in muted tones, and an oasis of tranquility. The hotel is extremely well located for walking either downtown or to the harbor. A totally rewarding experience. We would certainly return.

Best Choice in Victoria

My wife and I stayed at The Magnolia for 3 nights in early October 2018. We selected it based on Trip Advisor reviews indicating very high quality facilities, services and location. We were not disappointed. Everyone on the staff made us feel at home and provided those extra touches that make the difference between a first-rate boutique hotel and a gargantuan convention center hotel with a grander name. We had a king bed room facing the harbor on the 7th floor, and could not have been happier with the location, the build quality and the maintenance. What fun it was to watch seaplanes take off and land, and ferries to arrive and depart! What beautiful sunsets and city lights at night! The housekeeping was superb, and they were very responsive to our desired time for cleaning. Front desk members kindly arranged a Bluebird taxi to a far flung neighborhood theatre, The Belfry, where we saw a standout one act play, and were picked up right on time when the play was over. The restaurant list was very helpful. Overall, it was a great kickoff for a week on Vancouver Island. Will definitely recommend to friends.

The Magnolia is absolutely lovely. The room was very spacious, well designed and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was very spacious as well and the shower had the best water pressure I have had in years. The staff were very friendly, efficient and professional. The gym has everything you could need for a great workout and well stocked with water and fruit. The Brassiere at the Courtney Room (the hotel restaurant) had some of the best seafood I have ever had. We ordered the Seafood Tower and it was everything I hoped it would be. My stepson lives in Victoria and we will definitely make the Magnolia our place of choice. Loved this place 🌞

Incredibly enjoyable stay!

We started off a little rough because my room wasn't ready when I arrived and the desk staff asked me to sit in the lobby and they would fetch me, but then they completely forgot about me. I finally wandered back to the desk at half past four and no one seemed to remember that I'd been waiting. Oh well. Fortunately, that was the one and only glitch in my entire stay. I loved my room so much it was hard to leave. Ever. I could have easily foregone all my sight-seeing and just stayed put and been just as happy a traveler. My room was so beautiful with a view of the harbor. The weather was rainy and chill so I ran the fireplace nearly every minute I was in the room. My bed was cozy and the room darkening curtains actually worked! The bathroom was huge with a walk-in shower and a deep soaking tub. The hotel provided a wee bottle of bubble bath and I couldn't resist a soak. It was lovely! All the provided toiletries were wonderfully rich. The robe was thick and cozy and there were slippers if I'd needed them but I always bring my own. My bed was turned down each night and chocolates were left along with a fresh bottle of water. The staff were all wonderful. I truly felt spoiled. I've stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world but I have to say that the Magnolia Hotel has spoiled me greatly. Nothing else is really going to compare.

Our regular hotel was booked so gave Magnolia a try. Booked a signature corner room for the windows and view. And while there is No water/harbor view there is a nice one of the parliament building and the morning sun shining on it and at night is Beatiful all lit up. What makes this hotel special is the service, they care.
The lobby always had coffee and tea and trays in the morning and in the afternoons they have a special blend brewed and the cinnamon and spices fill the room with welcoming scent. A bowl of Washington apples is always full and available and the fireplace on making it a warm place to take a break before venturing out. It is nicely located so just walking distance to the water taxis at the harbor , museum, shopping and several wonderful restaurants. The room was spacious with wonderful amenities including apples and chocolate welcome with bottle of water. Nespresso machine with variety of coffee pods and tea kettle with choice of tea bags and cream and sugar and Fully stocked honor bar. Bathroom has a separate glass shower and deep soaking tub with bubble bath and Milled French soap. Our room had a couch and sitting chairs and coffee table. Perfect morning lounge with newspaper deliver to the door each morning. They take care with their guests and have created a welcoming atmosphere.
