Refined boutique hotel in downtown Victoria, with a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant and tranquil spa

The Lowdown

Set on a corner block in the heart of downtown Victoria–just two blocks from bustling Inner Harbour–this streamlined 64-room stay offers the intimacy of a boutique inn with the amenities of a luxury business hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated in a muted color scheme of silver, grey, and charcoal, and every bathroom features marble surfaces galore and a deep soaking tub. After a day spent exploring the city, return to the Magnolia Spa for a hot stone or scalp and neck massage, before heading to Catalano Restaurant & Cicchetti Bar for Mediterranean-inspired small plates and rustic main dishes.

In the Area

Put on your walking shoes and head out to explore cosmopolitan Victoria. First stop: the country’s oldest Chinatown, situated in a few blocks around Store and Government streets. Stroll it on your own or join a tour like Old Chinatown to find out more about this living museum, which includes novelties like Fan Tan Alley, the city’s narrowest street. Browse a wide range of teas at Silk Road Tea Store, which also stocks natural beauty products, then stock up on Asian treasures at Chintz & Company, which carries everything from exotic textiles to delicate ceramics. Recharge at Foo Food on flavor-filled noodle and curry dishes inspired by Asian street stalls.

Magnolia is a Must!
Reviewed 2 days ago

I booked two nights at the Magnolia to celebrate a dear friend's 40th birthday. It did not disappoint!!! After a stressful day of dealing with ferry cancellations trying to get to Victoria from the Mainland we were greeted upon arrival to find out we had been upgraded. From that point forward we felt spoiled and very well taken care of. It is all the little touches of staying at a boutique hotel that made our trip so memorable: nice note and chocolates to greet us, Nespresso coffee in the room, L'Occitane products in the bathroom, slippers provided for your use, to the hot apple cider in the lobby. We had a wonderful stay, and will definitely be staying again next year! Thank-you Magnolia staff for making our weekend so special and memorable!!!

Friendly and helpful staff

Great customer service and accommodations. Nice touch with chocolates in room. Nice to have apples and breakfast snacks in main lobby and comfortable sofas in lobby when waiting for others. Helpful staff.

Beautiful hotel with top notch everything...however a little on the noisy side

The service is exceptional, as was the décor. Everything was immaculate. However, I couldn’t get past the noise factor.
If you are not a very light sleeper the Magnolia Hotel & Spa is 5 stars all the way. However, quiet is one of my top travel wants and the Magnolia didn’t work for me.

After hearing what sounded like furniture being moved around above my room for a couple of hours I called the front desk to inquire. They told me it was the restaurant downstairs which somehow makes that noise which travels upwards? Person I spoke to said they didn’t think you could hear it from 4th floor (where my room was).
It finally stopped around 10pm or so local time. However that was about 1 a.m. my time. In addition, the noise overall certainly travels much more easily in this hotel than larger ones I’ve stayed in. Even beyond the ‘moving furniture sound’ there was some dog barking noises from nearby room, clear sounds from people walking outside.

Putting aside the noise factor, it’s a beautiful hotel with immaculate service and top notch everything else.

Great experience

We recently stayed at the magnolia Hotel during a visit to Victoria. Everything from the check-in experience, to the condition of the room, to the excellent service by staff was excellent. We would certainly recommend this hotel to our friends visiting Victoria.
