Set on a corner block in the heart of downtown Victoria–just two blocks from bustling Inner Harbour–this streamlined 64-room stay offers the intimacy of a boutique inn with the amenities of a luxury business hotel. Rooms are tastefully decorated in a muted color scheme of silver, grey, and charcoal, and every bathroom features marble surfaces galore and a deep soaking tub. After a day spent exploring the city, return to the Magnolia Spa for a hot stone or scalp and neck massage, before heading to Catalano Restaurant & Cicchetti Bar for Mediterranean-inspired small plates and rustic main dishes.
In the Area
Put on your walking shoes and head out to explore cosmopolitan Victoria. First stop: the country’s oldest Chinatown, situated in a few blocks around Store and Government streets. Stroll it on your own or join a tour like Old Chinatown to find out more about this living museum, which includes novelties like Fan Tan Alley, the city’s narrowest street. Browse a wide range of teas at Silk Road Tea Store, which also stocks natural beauty products, then stock up on Asian treasures at Chintz & Company, which carries everything from exotic textiles to delicate ceramics. Recharge at Foo Food on flavor-filled noodle and curry dishes inspired by Asian street stalls.
How to Get There
2 night stay in June. There was no parking at all in the downtown and the Hotel let us check in at 130pm The valet parking was essential at $30 per day. Breakfast is expensive and no buffet but nevertheless delicious.
We recently cycled to Victoria and stayed at the Magnolia. The bellman took our bikes into storage overnight which was super convenient. When checking in we happened to mention that it was our anniversary, and the front desk staff sent up a bottle of sparkling wine to our room. So incredibly thoughtful and unexpected. The front staff were also able to recommend some good bike routes which we really appreciated. The room itself was clean, and the bed/pillow was perfect for us. We didn’t use the other hotel services, but would definitely stay here again.
Knowing we had to be in Victoria for medical reasons, I told my beautiful husband I would treat him to a evening at a nice hotel for his Father's day gift from me and did I ever pick the right one.
From the time we went into the lounge and had a beverage while we were waiting for our room to be ready and when we returned to Reception, we were told "thank you for your patience and your room has been upgraded to the best room in the house", we felt at ease and welcome.
The best thing for me, after walking around the room is the fact the bathroom has a separate shower and a bathtub. This is so important for Seniors and/or those with mobility problems and they took that into consideration.
At the desk they asked where we were going for dinner or could they give us a list of 'staff picks' of the better establishments, depending on the type of cuisine you wanted. We decided immediately where we were going and went up to our room to relax before going out.
When we got back to our room following our sumptuous meal, it was a wonderful feeling to find two beautiful lounge chairs with a large foot stool where we could sit and enjoy watching a bit of television. Most hotels/motels have one chair. Why? The decor of our room was done with great care and consideration of their clientele.
I am recommending this Hotel for sure if it is for a special occasion and you want to do it right.
I've stayed at the Magnolia many times, but this time was different. I was seeking sanctuary this time, spending time with a select few loved ones, and above all...time to relax, regenerate, and refresh. I had a wonderful view from my spacious room which was more like a suite. With a comfy chair to curl up in, the choice was hard between my book and the bustle of the harbour, with ferries, and water taxis and seaplanes coming and going. I was also treated to the view of the crane operator quietly working away on the site of the old Customs House, with it's salvaged facade, yet destined to become posh condos. There was zero noise...it was like watching the world on "mute"....perfect! Of course, there was much more to it than that. As always, Guest Services fulfilled my special request prior to arrival and during my stay, every amenity was at my fingertips. There is an atmosphere of genuine caring, respect and connection with every level of the hotel's service staff and management is friendly and approachable at all times. The Courtney Room serves a wonderful breakfast, and I was treated to a lovely dinner there as well. Thanks again, for a wonderful stay!
We spent three delightful nights here. Spencer is fabulous. The room is spacious and comfortable. I would have them include eggs for breakfast at the room rates rather than just a smoothie and bread. Recommend Magnolia Hotel and Span wholeheartedly.
