Weekend getaway

Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean. Super location. Very convenient to ferries to Seattle and Port Angeles. Loads of restaurants and attractions within walking distance. We parked the car for the weekend and walked everywhere.

Great Location!

It seems this is one of two grand old hotels in Victoria, the Empress being the other one. (We had dinner in the Empress and much preferred the ambiance of the HGP where we stayed. ) The lobby is elegant and spacious, and the staff seemed friendly and accommodating. The rooms are large enough with very traditional decor that has seen its better day to an extent. Nevertheless, this is a nice place to stay and a wonderful location, especially if you’re coming to Victoria on the Clipper ferry. It’s just a block’s walk from the ferry to the hotel so no need to call for a car. You can easily walk to all the downtown attractions and restaurants from HGP. The rooms have small balconies and we had a view of the Parliament building and the wharf from ours. The Parliament is outlined in lights at night so a lovely view. We had one issue relating to our room when our Keurig coffee maker didn’t work. We told them at the desk on our way out and when we returned two hours later, they had either replaced or fixed it so appreciated that prompt service.

lovely lounge - really good food and beverages

I haven't stayed at the hotel,, just went to the lounge twice once for jazz festival and one after. The service was very good, choice of musicans almost always great (speaking over the last 2 yrs), excellent food and beverages. Try the drink specials - they're always interesting and delicious.
