How to Get There
Great hotel and the view is just amazing. Love the outdoor pool that was my favourite part. We also had massages, that was a little bit expensive from what I usually pay but they were register so we could write that off.
Was shown around by the concierge. The rooms are beautiful, the views are extraordinary and the atmosphere is luxurious. The location in Oak Bay is one of the best in the area. I would highly recommend staying here.
My wife had a two day conference at the hotel so I suggested we check in for a night. Out of the norm for us as the hotel is only 20 minutes form our home. What a wonderful place to stay! The staff is amazing, the hotel is beautiful and the rooms are so romantic. The mineral baths have a stunning view! We ate at The Snug, the food was great and the service was friendly. We are 100% going to return for a romantic weekend getaway.
I am a Senior TripAdvisor Contributor and normally enjoy writing reviews on the excellent hotels we have had the pleasure of visiting. This regrettably is not one of those reviews. My husband and I are Victoria BC locals, and we have stayed at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel many times over the last few years. We decided to bring our daughters (6 and 14) with us for a 1-night stay at the hotel. The trip was incredibly disappointing - largely due to the front desk supervisor's pretentious and condescending attitude. The hotel was by no means busy so we requested a late checkout hoping to spend more time with our girls in the pool. Von immediately said no. When I pressed the issue based on the evident lack of guests, he extended our checkout by 30min. We then proceeded to the pool area, and Von took it upon himself to follow us. Within a few moments of my daughters being in the pool (which was occupied by only 2 other adults), Von came over to say "Miss - can you ask your children to stop playing". I was shocked - the only posted rule in the pool area is "no diving". Beginning April 1 2019, children will not be permitted in the pool at all. The food is overpriced and under-portioned (see picture of my $32 plate of gnocchi and shortrib), and the restaurant service was terrible (we waited 20min. for a server to show up at our table). My husband and I were completely put off by the experience. This is not the hotel that we once loved. In the future, we will be going to the Westin at Bear Mountain instead.
We visited Oak Bay Beach Hotel in October 2018. It will sadly end up being our last visit. While the weather was great and we mostly enjoyed our visit, the pool scene was frustrating. Large groups of loud adults (often intoxicated) during the day spoiled our time there. There were several bachelorette groups and couples away type groups - drinking non-stop from the Mojito Bar, which would be fine if they respected the fact that the pool has signs everywhere asking for peace and quiet - since it's adjacent to the spa. This was not the first time we've observed this behavior but were surprised that the hotel didn't try to quiet the groups. Fast forward less than six months and the the hotel just announced a policy change with banning anyone under 16 from the pool area. One of the main draws for us was the ability to enjoy the mineral pools year round as a family. I find it unconscionable that OBBH is banning children from the pool. You have now lost a dedicated and regular guest over this short sighted and frankly terrible new policy.
