Rustic mountain retreat in Idaho with a spa, pool, and restaurant just 35 minutes from Jackson Hole
Located just over the rugged Teton Pass from Jackson Hole, the log cabin–style Teton Springs Lodge & Spa sits on 780 acres of land surrounded by the verdant green of Targhee National Forest and the white of soaring snowcapped peaks. The hotel’s main lodge has 52 rooms and suites with decor that mixes Native American and Wild West cowboy art, polished wood and earth tone walls and local photography. The wood frame beds are made up with soft Italian cotton sheets and plush Denali throws, while the bathrooms have whirlpool bathtubs for relaxing after a long day of skiing. The large suites are made even more inviting by stone fireplaces and big comfy chairs in the separate living area. Pamper yourself by booking a treatment at the 5,000-square-foot Stillwaters Spa; it offers everything from reflexology and aromatherapy to après-ski facials and deep tissue massages. Other amenities at Teton Springs Lodge & Spa include a heated outdoor swimming pool, hot tubs, tennis courts and the Range restaurant, which serves hearty fare such as Lava Lake lamb T-bones with a rosemary Zinfandel demi-glace and blue cheese mashed russets.
In the Area
You can fly over the 305,000 acres of legendary Jackson powder with High Mountain Heli-Skiing, to make those first backcountry tracks. Or explore Yellowstone National Park by snowmobile and enjoy lunch at Geyser Grill as Old Faithful erupts before your eyes. For something low-key, grab an award-winning locally made beer at Snake River Brewing. Or get your culture fix at the National Museum of Wildlife Art; the museum’s 5,000-item permanent collection includes the expected Rungiuses, as well as Audubons and also some Picassos and Maurice Sendaks.
