Crisanver House gives you all the outdoorsy, pastoral pleasures you
associate with a New England farm, because that’s exactly what it is.
The inn was built as a farmhouse in 1806, and its property on the side
of the Green Mountains of Shrewsbury, Vermont, has remained rustic and
unspoiled, while the additions of a pool house, tennis and bocce courts,
a conservatory and woodland trails now allow you to fully appreciate
it. Off the property, find a wealth of local activities, from antiquing
to hiking to skiing; on it, explore 120 acres of landscaped gardens and
pasture, whether they’re all in bloom or blanketed in snow.
while placing such a wealth of wide-open nature at your fingertips, the
bed-and-breakfast also promises to make you nice and cozy. Each day,
that quiet conservatory becomes the setting for your complimentary
three-course breakfast, cooked fresh and made to order, and dinners also
unfold here – each a four-course affair, with china, by candlelight.
Summer or winter, you also get a goose-down comforter and pillows in
your room, as well as easy access to the tranquil spa that’s so warm and
inviting, you’ll have no trouble making this farmhouse a home.
Suites and cottages
Chic country style is alive and well
at Crisanver House, where the rooms feature an eclectic mix of
furnishings, fabrics and luxury touches that will make you comfortable
during your Vermont stay. Plush bathrobes, goose-down comforters and
pillows, glass-enclosed showers with temperature-balance control and
local organic bath amenities are just a few examples of how this
mountainside inn pays attention to every detail for a truly personal
hospitality experience. In the Killington suite, you’ll have a
plush space, with an overstuffed chair and a loveseat, as well as a
his-or-hers bathroom with a soaking tub and glass-enclosed shower. This
accommodation is in the Main House, while you can also occupy your own
annex off the farmhouse, by staying in the Gren Cottage. This abode adds
on such luxuries as a kitchenette with a table, a daybed and a
fireplace, along with a king-sized bed.
In true B&B style, daily breakfast is fresh, made to order and served in a charming dining room conservatory, with Green Mountain
views. This three-course country meal changes daily, including brewed
organic coffee, fresh fruit dishes and hot entrée. But just because this
meal is the most important of the day doesn’t mean it’s the only one. A
romantic dinner at Crisanver House calls for candlelight, fine china,
linens and specially selected fine wines to complement the four courses,
which change with the seasons. Chef and owner Carol Calotta prepares
mouthwatering mains and other innovative plates that will have you
craving a fifth course.
The Spa at Crisanver
House features traditional treatments for the mind, body and spirit. The
fresh air and surrounding landscape provide a serene backdrop for an
escape from the stress of everyday life. From the hot-stone and
deep-tissue massages to the Myofascial Release and foot-reflexology
options, the treatments on offer here rejuvenate you from head to toe.
away on rolling Green Mountain pastures, this charming inn is perfect
for when you want to explore the Vermont outdoors, take in stunning
views and relax in a rustic atmosphere. Nearby are miles of mountain
trails, just waiting to be hiked. Other favorite activities include
exploring the arts scene, with its galleries, theaters and orchestra,
and antiquing – among the range of shops within driving distance, you’ll
have plenty of choice.
How to Get There
A Vermont gem, this B&B will accomodate the most discerning of guests. The accomodations are beautifully appointed with great attention to detail and lots of country charm. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and quiet. Carol and Michael are wonderful hosts and make sure you feel at home without being the least bit intrusive. Breakfast is made to order and everything is made with fresh ingredients. Fresh fruit plate, warm muffins and croissants right out of the oven, eggs any way you like them, and more. Cozy fires at night, games and books to keep you entertained, peace and quiet to relax and renew, or borrow some snowshoes - it's up to you! Our visit was snow covered, but we are just as eager to return in warmer weather to enjoy the decks, grounds, and spectacular views. Treat yourself - stay here!
We stayed for just one night on our New England road trip and found the location just as lovely as we had hoped. The room was cosy and very pretty and the views from the deck in the morning and from the breakfast room was stunning. The kitchen wasn't open the evening we stayed and we had to drive quite a way for dinner which was a bit of a shame (although The Downtown Grocery in Ludlow was worth the drive) and we felt the room was small for what we paid.
Beautiful inn and cottages with views of the mountains. Great service and staff very helpful. Only drawbacks are no TV service in cottages (helpful for viewing weather reports if nothing else) and internet service is spotty.
