How to Get There
Stayed at this hotel following the recommendation of the company I was consulting for. Skeptical at first because of the name, decided to chance it, plus this was a last minute arrangement. Online reservation was easy but, if you have any special requests, you better call. In my case, I chose the Standard King Bedroom but you can opt for Deluxe King, King with Jacuzzi, Queen and double and what view. Top floor is the only one having view of Lake Champlain. Otherwise, you are either facing the garage or Cherry Street. Corner rooms are also bigger (less-small!).
Upon arrival, reception staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful with suggestions on dinning and activities. You can opt to do valet parking for $16.00 per night or $12.00 if you self-park. That’s funny because the garage itself only charges $8.00/day, but I found this out after I had checked in.
Room was small but adequate for my needs, except there was no dresser or drawers, no microwave, coffee maker, or USB charging ports. There was a mini fridge though. But, the modern, yet rustic, approach to design made me feel at ease and I welcomed the Vermont-themed details. And the place was extremely clean.
I found the bathroom split kindda funny. On one side you have a spacious shower and a sink that you can close off by means of sliding doors with privacy glass and, on the other side of the room, you have the toilet with another sink. This works for a solo traveler and It’s even very functional, but I can see how this setup could be awkward for couples.
Every floor has a community beverage and fruit station by the elevators which lessened my anxiety of where to get coffee early in the morning. They also have a gym on the second floor in case you can’t miss your workout.
For dinning, you have Juniper Bar and Restaurant, with an outside deck, on the main floor and Hen on the Wood next door, but both close at 10, so no late snacks or room service after curfew. Both share the concept of locally-sourced cuisine, Hen on the Wood being pricier. Did not care for the size of their portions or the flavor of their renditions. Thank God the place is walking distance to the Marketplace area where you can explore multiple dining options while embracing the Vermont experience.
Overall, this was a great stay for me – Clean, comfortable, centrally-located and friendly service.
My wife and I stumbled on this place while going away for her birthday and I'm so glad we did. This hotel goes above and beyond and it's better than any hotel Ive ever stayed at. From the friendly staff complimentary artesian water, snacks, coffee and more! The bloody Mary breakfast bar its location everything is perfect here.
I stayed here for a business trip in chilly December. I appreciated all the special touches around the hotel including the community beverage station on my floor. Each night I put on my hotel-provided flannel robe and had two mugs of chamomile tea from the station. What a pleasant way to get ready for bed. The bar and restaurant offered unique beverages and tasty food. The location is right downtown so in December when it was very cold we could quickly walk to restaurants outside of the hotel. The only odd thing was the layout of the room that has the bathroom split with the shower on one side and the toilet on the other. I guess that can be helpful if you're sharing a room. Overall, I appreciated the uniqueness of this property. The room was clean and ready upon arrival. I would stay here again.
I stayed here on a business trip, the room was clean and cozy. The beds were super comfortable. I Loved the decor and theme of the hotel, especially the outdoor fire pit. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.
I stayed here in the summer of 2018 on a short business trip. This establishment is awesome. I had comfortable and restful nights of sleep; then enjoyed delicious eats in the restaurants both at the hotel and the nearby establishments. The staff were wonderful and very accommodating. The extracurricular activities here are put together by their awesome activities coordinator, do yourself a favor, stop by the front desk, sign up, and have some fun! You will not be disappointed! Hotel Vermont, I will be back:)
