The Lowdown

There are few cities on the planet more swoon-worthy than Verona, the ravishing setting for Shakespeare’s tragedy about star-crossed teenage lovers Romeo and Juliet. A UNESCO-listed gem that claims to have more Roman ruins than anywhere else in Italy other than Rome, it’s forever hailed as one of the most likely places for people to fall in love.
So for those who want to up the ante on the romance front, this modish four-star bolthole on the city’s outskirts is a cool pick. Days can be spent blissing out in the wonderful spa, working out in the fitness room, and venturing into the fair city to leave soppy notes in the courtyard at Casa di Giulietta beneath the very spot where Romeo declared his love. And obviously ignoring the fact that the balcony was added in the 20th century and the whole story was, of course, fiction.
The bedrooms tick all the boxes too with carpeted or hardwood flooring, soothing hues, and lots of contemporary Italian design flourishes. There’s also an elegant restaurant for delectable Italian gourmet cuisine, a poolside eatery that opens during the warmer months, and a funky deli bar that’s the perfect spot to sink a few pre- and post-dinner cocktails.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel with free spa to use! The spa and pools were absolutely amazing, rooms were a bit dated but not an issue. The location is further out of Verona town centre, but the hotel offers free shuttles into the centre every few hours which is absolutely amazing! Staff are very friendly and couldn’t do more for us!

Great value for money property..

This property is close enough to the Verona airport (free shuttle on call), at the same time, the staff is friendly enough as if you are staying upcountry.

The rooms are decent for the off-season price, towels fresh, good Italian breakfast and great wine selection..

Recommended if you are a business traveller or a family!!

2 night stay during a coach tour of Italy

Room was fine, as was food, staff were helpful and friendly. As we were on a coach tour we had not been aware that one of our hotels had a pool and spa free to residents and had not packed swimming costumes. The pool, spa and gym looked very inviting and professionally run.

Nice hotel, but beware......

We stayed at the hotel for several days. In general the hotel was okay. Nice breakfast and not as noisy as you would expect near an airport. The walls in the rooms are very thin, you hear a lot of things (you don’t want to know) from the neighbors. Bathroom okay but room is not 4* level.
The Spa and pool were really good. We enjoyed that.
But beware........we experienced that people went through our suitcase and beauty case and things were stolen. Hope for return of stuff is false hope. So be alert.....

Surprising Saccardi

Just checked out of Hotel Saccardi and felt I must write a review immediately. When driving up I was very concerned about the obviously out of town position. I thought I had misread reviews, but I hadn’t. This hotel is excellent. We have been traveling for 2 months and this is one of the best hotels. The foyer is welcoming and the reception staff so cheerful and had great English. Our room was very spacious and so clean and fresh. I did not realise we were so close to the airport but the room is obviously soundproof. Bed and pillows were good and the room had the best blockout curtains, we slept so late. We ate at the restaurant and had wonderful service and top class menu and wines. Claudio was especially good, and knew his wines. The breakfast was perfect with a combination of hot and cold and pastries and cheese. My only problem is that I forgot my cossies for the excellent pool and outdoor area. This has been a most enjoyable stay and although it is a short drive into town we did not need our car because they have a courtesy bus! Thanks for your hospitality.
