There are few cities on the planet more swoon-worthy than Verona, the ravishing setting for Shakespeare’s tragedy about star-crossed teenage lovers Romeo and Juliet. A UNESCO-listed gem that claims to have more Roman ruins than anywhere else in Italy other than Rome, it’s forever hailed as one of the most likely places for people to fall in love.
So for those who want to up the ante on the romance front, this modish four-star bolthole on the city’s outskirts is a cool pick. Days can be spent blissing out in the wonderful spa, working out in the fitness room, and venturing into the fair city to leave soppy notes in the courtyard at Casa di Giulietta beneath the very spot where Romeo declared his love. And obviously ignoring the fact that the balcony was added in the 20th century and the whole story was, of course, fiction.
The bedrooms tick all the boxes too with carpeted or hardwood flooring, soothing hues, and lots of contemporary Italian design flourishes. There’s also an elegant restaurant for delectable Italian gourmet cuisine, a poolside eatery that opens during the warmer months, and a funky deli bar that’s the perfect spot to sink a few pre- and post-dinner cocktails.
Good to know
This offer entitles you to a complimentary shuttle bus ride to and from Verona Villafranca Airport, just a five-minute journey from the hotel. Please be aware that the hotel is located on the motorway.
How to Get There
Not sure why people complain about the location. It's by an industrial estate, but near a residential area and a 10-minute walk from the town centre (where there's a delicious pizzeria!). The shuttle to Verona is well organised. When arriving in Verona, our bus from Bergamo airport arrived slightly late, but I called and the shuttle driver waited for us.
The room was fine. Nothing luxurious, but very nice. The service was very good. The breakfast was varied.
The best thing about the hotel was the spa and pool. I had the pool all to myself and loved every minute of it. I also enjoyed the spa facilities, especially the multisensorial showers.
I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for some relaxation while visiting Verona.
industrial Zone near village, barley reachable without car.
Inside very nice furnished and elegant with garden and outdoor pool and spa area and restaurant with pool view.
Breakfast was ok , dinner menue not so nice. in totaly not convinced about food quality.
Spa area new but without spa feeling as very dark and overcrowded (saturday). Children playing in the spa pool, not enough beds for recreation, no spa coats etc. in the room but to hire for fee.
Ok hotel and facilities but terrible service considering 4* rating.
Dinner service terrible. Waitress in trainers, bread delivered with mains, no salt and pepper or condiments offered, no wines by glass on the list, waiter opened random bottles for us without price advise. Dessert offered 45 minutes after finishing mains so decided to leave.
Breakfast disaster, shown to the table where paper napkins and cutlery were pretty much thrown on (no need for perfection but simply placed cutlery and napkins in ok position would make a difference). When moved the paper napkin there were stains on table cloth and scrammbled egg left overs from previous guest!
Wanted to see duty manager on check out and have been told there is no manager on duty.
Despite appearances (the hotel is in an industrial estate, overlooking a motorway) the Saccardi is a really excellent hotel. The service at the reception desk in particular was very friendly, breakfast was delicious and our room was great. I loved the gym in the basement and we both used the spa in the late afternoons. The fact that there was a free shuttle bus from the hotel to either the station or the centre of Verona was a massive plus as we were able to explore the city as well as further afield to Lake Garda (via train) very easily. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return to the Hotel Saccardi & Spa the next time we are in the Veneto area.
When I arrived to this hotel I was really sceptic. I used G map navigation and it directed me to enter hotel front from highway. I was dissapoited because of it, as I had to pay highway toll to reach hotel. But later I discovered it has also other entrance, but there is not notice about it.
Hotel was surprisingly very nice hotel. First hotel I used with welcome drink in launge. Room was really spaceous and with AC. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom was spaceous enough. Hotel was very good isolated, as I did not hear any traffic from highway at all.
Another nice surprise was breakfast. Nice variety of food and great was they had opened terrace by the pool to enjoy breakfast.
Staff was friendly and helpfull.
