Classic townhouse close to Juliet's balcony in Verona's historic quarter with exposed stone walls and views of the Case Mazzanti

The Lowdown

A couple of blocks from the balcony that inspired Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Albergo Mazzanti is a classic Italian escape in the heart of Verona’s ancient city center. The exposed stone walls throughout are made from pieces of a medieval tower, and many of the guestrooms overlook the frescoes of the Case Mazzanti, one of the oldest buildings in the city. The lobby lounge and breakfast room have a cozy, traditional feel, with wood paneled walls, distressed leather armchairs and gilt-framed oil paintings. The rooms are authentic and elegant; expect beam ceilings, heavy curtains and gold-fringed chairs and mirrors. Modern touches come in the form of TVs, free WiFi and tile bathrooms (some have tubs). The hotel’s nearby partner restaurant, Caffè Dante, serves authentic Italian fare and has sublime views of the romantic Piazza dei Signori.

In the Area

The hotel is just a few minutes from Casa di Giulietta, otherwise known as Juliet’s house, which is said to have inspired Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Verona’s winding streets and relatively small size make it a great place to explore on foot. Don’t miss a stroll across the Ponte Pietra, Verona’s oldest bridge. After you’re done wandering, head to Casa Perbellini for a bite to eat. A local favorite, this authentic eatery is renowned for its seafood risotto, cheese soufflé and drink list full of Italian wines.

Superb location, wonderful staff
William K

We spent 4 nights here in late October and were very pleased with the location, the room and the service. The entrance is just a few steps away from the heart of the city, but it is tucked away so that noise and crowds are not a problem. Our corner room (103) was beautiful and spacious and we’d have been comfortable staying here even longer.

The included buffet-style breakfast was very nice, staffed by a very pleasant man who quickly brought and cheerfully replenished our cappuccini. Scrambled eggs and bacon as well as a variety of cold cuts, breads, pastries and juices made for a substantial beginning to an active day.

The front desk staff were very helpful, in particular Elisa who was there most days. She called taxis for us, recommended and booked restaurant reservations, and even phoned ahead to our next destination to find an English-speaking person who could speak with me about a guided tour in English the next morning.

We would gladly stay here again on any future visit to Verona.

Best location posible

This little hotel is located in Verona’s very heart, walk 50 yards and you are in one of the main piazza attractions.
Rooms are quiet and charmful, breakfast well served and personnel. Perfect for visiting Verona

A clean, friendly B & B type hotel in the centre of Verona old town. Very effective double glazing although in fairness there isn't that much noise for the centre of a city. Reception staff very helpful. A good breakfast. Comfortable room. Small safe in the room for valuables. About 100m from the lovely Piazza Del Erbe and plenty of eating places. We had a good stay here.
