How to Get There
I'm so confused why this place is rated so highly.
We asked for a double bed and were given 2 twins pushed together, it's probably the worst night sleep I've had in my entire life. I would never stay again. Staff were nice though but couldn't help when we requested room change x
I’m an American who travels within the United States six to eight times per year. I’m used to American hotels, which colors my expectations. I was on a three city educational tour - four nights each in Rome, Florence and Venice. That sums up my experience with Italian hotels.
Our room at the Giorgione was very small even compared to the other hotels we stayed in. There were two twin beds, which we pushed together to afford us about three feet of space on either side. We needed the space because the closet was too small to store a 26 inch suitcase and hang any clothes. Therefore, we had to stand our suitcases on the sides of the beds for four nights. Also, there was minimal dresser space (about four sock drawers), so we had to open our suitcases for any change of clothes
There was free WiFi in the room, but it was reminiscent of dial- up, except that dial up was faster and more reliable. I kept losing the connection - every five minutes or so - so checking emails was very frustrating.
Bathing was a different challenge, unless you have time and inclination to fill the tub each time. We had a beautiful bathtub, with a retrofitted shower attachment. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out a way to use the shower standing up without flooding the floor. So I washed sitting down, and used the shower head to rinse off. I had to take care because the tub was slippery, and no non-slip mat was provided.
On the plus side the Giorgione is well-located. It’s an easy walk to the vaporetto, both on the grand canal and to Murano/Burano, and to the Rialto Bridge. Also, the breakfast was decent.
If I return to Venice, I would look for another place to stay.
We were staying in the hotel 2 nights. We booked through Agoda and mentioned that we have special occasion, we arrived after midnight were exhausted and terrible tired and when we went to the room to all mentioned above add disappointment. Standard room is quite small and black marks on the wall giving really not good impression . We booked double room and find twin room. Went down to reception and found out that it’s actually Agoda requested for twin room for us even in our confirmation letter it’s says double bed. However receptionist tried to help and arrange double room next day but we had only two nights stays and decided do not waste our time . In the end we really loved the hotel . Breakfast was good and staff very helpful and friendly .Hotel has nice and super clean pool. I noticed they removes water and clean pool every single day. That’s really cool. I would like to thank Sarah for her help and assistance. During our checkout we realized that some documents we needed for the car rental not printed out and even it was busy checkout time, Sarah managed to help us with printing and asked restaurant to arrange for us cups of coffee before we leave. Sarah thanks a lot you are just awesome.
I would recommend this hotel for sure but I would advice take room on the first floor with pool view.
