How to Get There
My husband and I came to Venice last week to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and received another warm welcome from all the staff of the Hotel Giorgione. It was our fourth stay in the hotel (two previous stays were to celebrate my 75th and 76th birthday in Feb.) and on every occasion we have been treated like old friends. There was a lovely bottle of Prosecco waiting for us in our room which was comfortable, beautifully decorated and with a bath as we requested. Special thanks to Sara who translated my husband's anniversary message to me into Italian (not without a few tears!) All the staff - Ricardo, Lorenzo, Sara, Mauro and Virginia - helped to make our stay a memorable one and we will definitely be back!
We both really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Giorgione and thought it was perfect for our 4 night stay in Venice. The hotel itself is in walking distance of everything you need when visiting Venice. We took a public transport boat from the airport to Ca' Doro which took around 30 minutes and cost 15 Euro each. It then took about 5 minutes to walk to the hotel. The reception staff were very friendly and attentive, we were made to feel very welcome. We were informed about some excursions but didn't feel pressured into looking into any of these like one review states (we already had ours booked previous to this anyway).
The room was very clean and suitable for a couple. The fridge was full and was refilled the next day when we had taken any of the drinks. Breakfast was also good. There was a good selection of pastries/cereal and also a couple of hot options.
We felt the pool was a lovely addition to the hotel and enjoyed the use of it. The only criticism I have is that the deck chairs were reserved for some rooms even when they were not in use (I presume they would have paid extra for this). The chairs that we could use were in the shade- it would be nice if there were more in the sun that everyone could use.
Other than that, we loved our stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone that takes a trip to Venice! Thank you!
We have stayed at a few hotels during our stay ... however I was very let down by Hotel Giorgio.
We booked this trip for our anniversary and upon arrival there was no acknowledgment of this . A card was left with a bottle I had requested addressed to somebody else . .
This in itself was no big deal, but it the little attention to detail that makes a difference . When I mentioned this I was told “oh mistakes happen”
Also : the bed which I found very odd was a double bed with two single mattresses adjoined ... so if you wish to sleep next to your partner that would end you falling thru the middle . Which was hilarious to begin with but frustrating at 2 am when the mattresses would part . I found this very odd ...
There is also curtain on the stained glass windows so if you are expecting a lie in - it won’t happen .
I understand there will also be all sorts that crop up but what struck me as odd and now re reading all the reviews from other guests - that the management really do not give a rats arse about you or even try to fix the problem. I can honestly say there was a lack of concern from the staff . I mentioned twice to speak to the manager but I was told my complaint has been escalated , yet nothing .
Even if there was nothing he/ she could do then just the courtesy of discussing this / or offering some thing in return as we were there for our anniversary as mentioned.
A little “happy anniversary “ upon arrival would have made me warm to the staff ..
This has cropped up a few times I see in the reviews below . When I explained the mattress situation - I was told that this is normal !
The out door jacuzzi - NOT POOL as stated on the website is lovely . It’s small but to be expected . It is constantly being cleaned and checked . ..
The interior of the actual hotel was stunning ...
However as been mentioned previously I would not rate this a 4.5 . More of 3
