How to Get There
Hotel is in a great location, 10 minutes walk from the water taxi and surrounded by excellent restaurants and bars. We have recommended this hotel as a great place to stay in Venice. The hotel has a grandeur (although a little dated) interior, our room was spacious, the staff were welcoming and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. I would've given 5* but for personal reasons we needed to change the date of our visit to the week earlier, there were rooms available and at a higher price which we offered to pay but we were informed quite rudely that this couldn't be accommodated so a mother/daughter trip had to change to a husband/wife/baby trip and we were a little apprehensive on arrival! However all the staff were very professional and polite.
This was our first trip to Venice and our stay at Giorgione played a major role in it capturing our hearts! The area is idyllic, not too crowded and not too expensive. It is walking distance to the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco, as well as excellent shopping and wonderful restaurants. It was easy to get a water taxi and quite close to the hotel. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed all that we used...The bar, pool and breakfast were great! We fell in love with Venice, and when we return we will definitely be staying here again!
This is a traditonal Venetian hotel in a fabulous location, only 10 minutes walk from St Marks or Rialto, and easy to access via Water Taxi or Airport 'Alla Laguna' ferry. The staff were helpful and the added bonus of the jacuzzi pool was most welcome. The bedroom was large and had lots of fabric and drapes in the traditional style. Aircon was great and the hotel was quiet 2 out of 3 nights (the other night we had noisy neighbours). Most hotels don't allow food and drink to be brought in so that is not unusual, but we brought our own water bottles in. Breakfast was reasonable and could be eaten in the pretty courtyard, which smelt of beautiful jasmine. We took the complimentary Murano water taxi as it's a great way to arrive on the Island and we wanted to see the glass making. Touring the glass showrooms and visiting the shop is a small price to pay for a free glass making demo - and you can move on when you want, as it was not hard sell - and it was interesting to see. We found the hotel quirky and charming. Yes it is a little shabby in places and somewhat higgledy piggledy but that only adds to it's charm.
Couldn't fault it
We stayed in 801 which has direct pool access ,,for two people , it's down stairs and in a beautiful typical small street so don't expect any views small but very adequate , clean , tidy , Aircon worked perfectly also own chairs by jacuzzi pool and own table reserved outside of room for breakfast . Paid extra but worth it . Hey it's not every day you go to Venice .
Perfect location 10 mins to Rialto , 15/20 mins from st Marcos
7 min walk to fondemente nove which is first drop off point on ferry for Venice from airport
We stayed at this hotel while we were travelling through Europe. Although the Hotel itself was nice the rules on eating your own food in the rooms was shocking. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED to take your own food or drink and indulge in your own room. How ridiculous. But the main reason i would NOT recommend this accommodation is due to the SCAM this hotel has with the Murano Glass Factory. Upon arrival you are invited to a FREE tour of this famous glass factory including the FREE boat trip to get there. Once there you are shown how the glass is made then encouraged to buy a piece that is apparently only authentically guaranteed from this factory. The reality is that the price is at least twice the price for the same item you can get in local Murano shops in Venice. A TOTAL RIP OFF. I informed the Hotel of my concern given we went on their recommendation and they did nothing about this but still continue to recommend this SCAM. There are more reputable Hotels in this lovely city...DON'T CHOOSE HOTEL GIORGIONE.
