How to Get There
This hotel was recommended to me by Venetians that I had worked with and lived up to its promise. We booked the room in the photo (2nd floor Junior Suite) which was lovely. Excellent quality bed linen, towels, Ortigia toiletries, - balcony overlooking the Canal, very quiet, good breakfast, very friendly staff. Easy to reach, we took the ATVO from Marco Polo Airport to Piazzale Roma and then the 10 min walk to the hotel - cost us 16 Euros rather than around 150 in a water taxi - and was quicker. Warm enough in November to sit out in the evening in the garden with canapes and a large glass of Prosecco. We love walking and visited all of the main sights from here on foot - walked about 8 miles a day over 3 days. Tip - buy a good map before you go. We forgot and bought one locally which was a bit of a challenge as the type was so small, but we managed. You can of course use your phone but prefer a map! Highlights - the fabulously restored Teatro La Fenice, the little church of San Angelo Rafaele where the churchwarden showed us the bapistry and frescoes (for literary reasons) and the stunning church I Gesuiti - off the beaten track but worth it. We failed to find the Lorezo Quinn artworks at the Biennale by the Arsenale but apart from that an absolutely perfect trip. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The location is good, very easy to get around Venice from here-a northwest location close to the train station. The hotel is an original17th-century palazzo updated with designer bathrooms and classic Venetian style (Murano glass, speckled marble and mother of pearl floors, patterned parquet, damask fabrics) rooms. We were lucky to be given the loggia suite with bottle-glass windows and bed facing out to the Grand Canal. Among the many common spaces are the upstairs beamed and frescoed living room with fireplace, modern courtyard breakfast room/bar and terrace overlooking the garden. A charming hotel.
This hotel is on the Grand Canal very near the train station and Piazza Roma. They arranged a water taxi service from Marco Polo airport directly into their hotel. Upon arrival we all fell in love with the place, the rooms, hospitality, location, and the terrace right on the canal. The breakfast was excellent either inside or outside on the terrace. They also had a bar service for our evening cocktails. We had a party of 3 couples and we all had a great experience.
I highly recommend this hotel, I’ll be back there next September myself.
