How to Get There
The hotel was full off charm, clean and very close to St Lucia train station. We got a shared water taxi from the airport which dropped us at at a little Quay less than a 5 minute walk away and there's a vaporetto station right outside running to all the major sights. The walk to St Marks Square took about 30 mins. Lots of little shops, restaurants and food stalls all along the streets around it open all hours.
Booked 4 nights here when travelling with friends, to be fair we were a little concerned about some of the reviews but decided to give it a try anyway.
The hotel is conveniently located for the train station, and the bus terminal is under 10 mins walk from the bus terminal - from the terminal walk over the bridge passing the train station on the left a short distance and you are there but it is very easy to miss look out for the second river bridge and it is just opposite! There are water taxi stops too just by the train station so you cannot get better access to transport.
Check in was quick & easy, dealt with very professionally & courteously. We were taken to the lift which served our side of the hotel and clear instructions given on how to get to our room.
The room itself was spacious enough, we did not opt for a canal view, given we intended spending little time in the room!A nice double bed with spotlessly white linen. Wall lamos either side of the bed and bedside tables. There was a small TV which we were able to get CNN on so at least could get the headline news. The bathroom was a decent enough size with shower over bath, bidet, WC & wash hand basin - there were even towels provided for when using the bidet!
There was a wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and a small room safe. There was Tea/Coffee provided but no milk. Once the room was made up, a small linen mat was placed at each bedside which is a nice touch.
Breakfast was on the ground floor to the rear of the hotel and comprised of either a cold buffet of meats, cheeses, croissant, assorted fruits & yogurts or, eggs bacon and sauted potatoes. There was tea, coffee, juices and even a juicer to prepare your own juice!
We had several bottles of their Merlot from the bar which was 17 euro (I think!!) a really nice wine, as was the house white.
Throughout, the hotel was very clean and in good order. It was apparent renovation work was commencing in the breakfast room. WiFi was good but you did have to keep logging in each time you used it, even had good bandwidth in the room!
A short distance from the hotel is a supermarket (Spar) where you can pick up any odds & ends and bottled water is very reasonable. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from too!
The staff could not do enough for us. We were travelling with a large group of children and the staff were very accommodating. The breakfast was adequate although very crowded. We were close to a supermarket and lots of great restaurants.the rooms were all configured differently but very comfortable and clean. We used it as a base for walking and travelling a Lund Venice.
