Overview

Relax in the heart of Sweden’s chilled-out Gothenburg, with breakfast, dining discounts and spa access

The Lowdown

Gothenburg, located at the mouth of the Gota River on the south-west coast, may be known as Sweden’s ‘second city’ but its good-time reputation is enough to rival hip Stockholm. With a wooden rollercoaster, plenty of bars and clubs and boutique shops showcasing up-and-coming designers, it’s a city that buzzes all year round.
At the Elite Park Avenue, you’ll be at the absolute centre of the action. Located on Avenyn, the most famous boulevard in Gothenburg, the hotel is within walking distance of Central Station and is just a hop, skip, jump away from the cultural quarter, Götaplatsen square, where you’ll find the city’s main theatre and independent art galleries.
If museums and galleries don’t float your boat, then head up to the city’s port, which is the largest in Scandinavia, to see many of Sweden’s historic vessels, including a Viking ship. Spend an afternoon pottering around the network of canals and the cobbled squares lined with pastel-coloured buildings. No visit to Gothenburg is complete without sampling a few regional specialities such as lingonberry jam or herring and new potatoes washed down with beer and schnapps.

Rooms

Superior rooms are modern and stylish with neutral décor. The air-conditioned rooms have satellite TV and comfy armchairs.

Dining

The varied buffet breakfasts cater for all diets. The hotel has three restaurants. Park Avenue Café serves modern reworkings of classic Scandinavian dishes, while the English-style pub, The Bishops Arms, serves the usual pub fare. If neither take your fancy, there’s also the crowd-pleasing Restaurant Locatelli offering continental cuisine and a late-night bar.

Spa

No Swedish hotel would be complete with a wellness centre and at the Elite, you’ll have use of its gym, saunas and relaxation area. Massages and treatments can be booked.

Location

This is an ideal location for those wanting to be in the heart of the city. The Elite Park Avenue is on the city’s main road, which is packed with bars, restaurants and clubs. Trams also run nearby, but with its compact size, most of Gothenburg’s sights are easily reachable on foot or bike. The Liseberg amusement park, with its famous wooden roller coaster is not far and Gothenburg City Airport is only six miles away.

Elite!

We were very happy with our stay at Elite Park Avenue in Gothenburg. Nothing to complain about regarding the hotel. Breakfast was nice, rooms were comfortable and clean, and our room at a safe. The staff was very helpful when we had questions. Pretty decent location to everything.

There was quite a bit of construction right outside of the hotel so it made it a little more difficult to walk around / get to the hotel but it wasn't too bad.

Excellent in every way
Me N

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this hotel. We were grateful to be allowed to check in early. The family room was spacious and intelligently designed. We thought the bed were particularly good. The room was very quiet each night, and the breakfasts were excellent, although the quality of the coffee could have been better. Overall, for the room rate we paid, our stay was excellent value for money and we look forward to using other Elite hotels in Sweden.

After 2 years you are still worst

2 years ago we stay here, i also give bad reviews. So this year i thought maybe they changed already. Omg! You are getting worst. We stayed 6 days. 2nd day i called the reception to inform the housekeeping to get all the glasses and bottles on the floor. I even put them all together so it will be easy to clean up. 3rd day i called again with same reason and ask them to send us new glasses too. I got one glass we are 3 pax. 4th day i called again with same reason and asked them to fill up the mini bar. I even make a note so that they wont forget it. 5th day i called again, why??? To give us shower gel but no one came. We did not get any new showel gel, shampoo, conditioner or body lotion in 5 days and the bathtub is not clean, how did i know? All the empty glower gel, shampoo, conditioner was place in the same place where i leave them. So 6th day we didn't had a chance to shower. I am tired of calling them. Worst part, in 6 days of stay. None of the housekeeping vacuum the floor. We found a cigarette under the bed. We do smoke in the balcony but we used red marlboro.

Reception, you can do better than this. You just need to have more faster access to talk to housekeeping. Very disappointing.

I like the hotel, it was nice but service is way more far from the word "Elite".
