Landscaped gardens, towering palm trees and soothing fountains greet guests at this elegant colonial-style property on the banks of the Gomti River in Lucknow, the capital of India’s Uttar Pradesh province. The guestrooms are decked out in earthy red, cheery chartreuse and dusty purple and feature ergonomic work desks and custom lighting. Pillow menus, dual massage showerheads, ayurvedic toiletries, tea- and coffeemaking facilities and free water come standard in all rooms. Head outside to explore the 25 acres of gardens, book a treatment at the spa, squeeze in a workout at the 24-hour fitness center or splash around in the outdoor pool. You won’t have to leave the grounds for food, either. Feast on pan-Indian specialties (aromatized baked prawns, panseared fish) at Latitude, indulge in upscale North Indian cuisine (tender kebabs, lamb bone marrow) at Oudhyana, or retire to SAQI for a muddled cocktail or two.
In the Area
To orient yourself in this charming capital city, ask the hotel to arrange a heritage walk or a tonga (horse and buggy) ride through the historic lanes. You’ll learn about the city’s 18th- and 19th-century heyday, when the arts and architecture scene flourished under the rule of the nawabs, Muslim princes and landowners who patronized the arts in India. This artistic history lives on in the region’s rich embroidery tradition — you’ll see residents hand-washing colorful, elaborate fabrics on the riverbanks — as well as its architecture. Don’t miss a visit to the Asafi Imambara, an elegant monument from the 18th century composed of a mosque that features labyrinth-like corridors; nearby you’ll spy the Rumi Darwaza, a 60-foot-high 18th-century gate said to be a replica of an archway in Istanbul.
How to Get There
I went in Taj with my friends. It was the first time when I visited taz. It was really Luxurious place. I wanted to send some more time there but I got one important call from office so leave early this place but I sent good time there.
Recently joined there for a team dinner . They have left me delighted with their prompt services and overwhelming tasting good. Also have the best event space and meeting halls. Would like to thank mr shubham for his extended support to make our event successful.
We stayed in Taj Vivanta Lucknow from 8th sep to 10th september and the stay was 'just grand'. One should actually come to this place to enjoy the ultimate luxury. We have stayed at Ramada, Hilton and Raddison in lucknow, but none comes close to the royalty and hospitality of this place. We were upgraded to the newly furbished deluxe rooms and the journey started from there.
The architexture of the hotel is outstanding and the lobby awes you on entrance. We spend a lot of time sitting there and enjoying ourselves. The pool is expansive(though not deep) but the chirping birds, squirrels running around and palm trees in pool-side area transport you to the feel of an south Indian resort. But the USP of the place are beautiful lush -green gardens adjoining pool areas which are best for morning walks.
The room we were allocated was a garden facing one and had all the modern amenities with ultra comfortable bed.
The breakfast spread was good with the potential of satisfying all your taste-buds.
Taj prides in its hospitality and in reality the staff has been the best so far in Lucknow. With all smiles and courteous manners , everyone seemed welk trained. Mr Bhagat( pool side), Utsav Gupta , the housekeeping executive, Sudhir and Mr Yashikant from restaurant and Varkita from reception were really charming.
We have been searching for a go- to place in Lucknow and it seems after staying here, we have landed on the right one. Thanks Taj!!
