Landscaped gardens, towering palm trees and soothing fountains greet guests at this elegant colonial-style property on the banks of the Gomti River in Lucknow, the capital of India’s Uttar Pradesh province. The guestrooms are decked out in earthy red, cheery chartreuse and dusty purple and feature ergonomic work desks and custom lighting. Pillow menus, dual massage showerheads, ayurvedic toiletries, tea- and coffeemaking facilities and free water come standard in all rooms. Head outside to explore the 25 acres of gardens, book a treatment at the spa, squeeze in a workout at the 24-hour fitness center or splash around in the outdoor pool. You won’t have to leave the grounds for food, either. Feast on pan-Indian specialties (aromatized baked prawns, panseared fish) at Latitude, indulge in upscale North Indian cuisine (tender kebabs, lamb bone marrow) at Oudhyana, or retire to SAQI for a muddled cocktail or two.
In the Area
To orient yourself in this charming capital city, ask the hotel to arrange a heritage walk or a tonga (horse and buggy) ride through the historic lanes. You’ll learn about the city’s 18th- and 19th-century heyday, when the arts and architecture scene flourished under the rule of the nawabs, Muslim princes and landowners who patronized the arts in India. This artistic history lives on in the region’s rich embroidery tradition — you’ll see residents hand-washing colorful, elaborate fabrics on the riverbanks — as well as its architecture. Don’t miss a visit to the Asafi Imambara, an elegant monument from the 18th century composed of a mosque that features labyrinth-like corridors; nearby you’ll spy the Rumi Darwaza, a 60-foot-high 18th-century gate said to be a replica of an archway in Istanbul.
How to Get There
Taj Lucknow is excellent property with spacious lawns for morning walks & Yoga and gift of past legacy and nature.
Equipped with motivated team of human resources, it adds to the flying colours of this memorable property.
Nevertheless to state that civilization and cultures are imbibed in the team from top to bottom
I am staying in Room no . 160 . First of all tariff is very high. That’s not the problem. But when I checkin and start Tv only free channel are there. There are no paid channel . That’s not the culture of Taj. Food is worth of mention.
A must visit in Lucknow. It’s not mere a 5 star hotel but a small palace which has its own charm. Especially at the backyard, beautifully architectured with gorgeous swimming pool and courtyard. True Tajness
Visited Oudhyana by Taj Vivanta in Lucknow for the birthday celebration of a family member. The place has impeccable sevice, beautiful ambience, soulful music and lip smacking food. Urvashi ensured that our experience was top notch and even got us a complimentary birthday cake. Must laud the brilliant hospitality by Urvashi and Ashok. It was a memorable experience!
We had organised the reception of our son ( wedding functions held at another Taj property - Jai Mahal Palace Jaipur). Guests included foreigners as well. The whole experience was beyond words. Ms Arunima Singh was such a big help in planning/ finalizing all the events. The ambience in Crystal Hall was magical. Supporting staff of Mangalesh, Yashikant and Shambhu was very energetic, willing, cheerful and forthcoming which all the guests appreciated. Ujjwal provided customised lovely and tasteful cake. Food including Lakhnavi chaat was so sumptuous. Brand Taj always shines, what else can one say
