How to Get There
Came to SLC for a business trip in Midvale but wanted to stay downtown to be walkable to things.
The location of the hotel is good, I could walk to Starbucks and a bunch of restaurants without a problem, even with the crazy snow storm that hit the day after I arrived.
The staff were all friendly, didn't have a problem getting help from anyone or directions.
The rooms were ok. I stayed on the executive level, and there wasn't anything wrong with the room, it just felt a little odd that certain things like the couch and some of the chairs were updated, but then the end-tables were an outdated light oak finish that felt outdated.
The Executive Lounge could use some help. The room was dark and unwelcoming, and didn't have anyone staffed there all of the time. The breakfast was ok, but felt more like you were having free breakfast at the Hampton Inn, rather than the breakfast that you expect at an Executive Lounge. The coffee machine was also constantly either not fully functioning like the hot milk wouldn't work, or it would just blow out steam. It's time to invest in a reliable machine or having someone consistently servicing it. The one evening I was in there around 8:30pm trying to make a coffee, and it was just blowing hot air, and when I asked a women who stopped in to check on the cleanliness of the lounge, she had no clue what to do. Even though it was an odd time to be in the lounge, the lounge was open so have knowledgeable people that can provide the type of service and experience that Diamond Members expect.
Also, consider lowering your parking rates. They're pretty expensive considering other hotels right next door offer free parking or half of what you're charging.
Nice hotel, with a very good location downtown. Concierge was very friendly, and went above and beyond to help us with our plans and with recommendations. Rooms had excellent views of the city and the beautiful mountains.
The front desk attendant (Nate) was terrible. He was pleasant up until I gave him my credit card & after that he was done with customer service. I had to ask for directions to room (400 plus rooms) & for parking. The parking garage does not have any markings to help you remember location. Maybe that’s their way of getting you to valet it but wasn’t interested in spending more than $18/day.
I asked for a cart to carry my belonging from my car to the room & was told by bellhop (Daniel) that it was against hotel policy. Stellar customer service.
In regards to the room, it’s dated and mediocre.
I won’t stay here again & wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Hotel is conveniently located to a lot is sites. Walking distance to museums, temples, shopping, restaurants. Minutes walk to downtown. Hotel staff are great. Hotel rooms are good with Mountain View.
My son requested a plate and fork and they were going to charge them for it. We have a total of 5 rooms under different names but really charge for a fork and a plate.
Meh, its a hotel. What can I say. Nothing really good or bad about it. You aren't going to want to spend anytime there, but its fine as a place to store your stuff, shower and sleep. Not much else to say.
