How to Get There
Stayed here for a night with an Insight Tour group. Staff was very friendly and helpful, room was quite nice.
Location is fantastic for a variety of attractions in downtown SLC. There are many excellent restaurants within 3 blocks (some within a block). Temple Square is a five minute walk, as is the Convention Center.
As I am a member of the HIlton frequent travel club, wifi is free (and very good). Otherwise its $9.95/day.
Very much enjoyed our time here.
If you're looking for a great location in downtown, this is it. While it is an older hotel, it's clean and well kept. The hotel breakfast buffet is a big plus too - with friendly staff. The only negative was that our in-room linens were a bit "off". The first night, we had no wash cloths. On the 3rd day, they came very late to tidy up our room and we just ended up swapping out linens.
Spent 3 nights at Hilton, great location in downtown business district, convenient to base my stay. Very clean rooms, courteous staff. Got a welcome text message upon arrival. Mentioned a maintenance need. Scheduled the work while I'm out. Checked back in to ensure corrected. Great customer service. A green facility, option to not change linen, towels, added member points if room service waived. Two morning papers.Hilton is top choice for me.
Writing this review to share a hugely disappointing stay on this property. As a business traveler, getting in at 1 AM I expect to be promptly processed and then to be able to slide into clean sheets. Instead the one person behind the desk, wonderful as he was, had to tend to other guests’ needs such as valeting the luggage from the cars, while I waited with drooping eyelids. And then at 1:15am all I wanted to do was lay down in bed, only to discover blood stained sheets. Called down and the man who came to change the sheets 20 minutes later, came with the wrong size bedding. I called again. The “Guest Services” operator insisted I was looking at rust stains by the way. I then switched rooms. At 1:30am. None of this should be acceptable for any Hilton brand.
I also expected upon returning from a day of business meetings at 4:25pm today to see my room cleaned, but that too did not happen. Instead the pile of towels that were dirty from my morning shower, AND the towels stained with makeup from a prior guest, had never been replaced.
Pretty much not what you want on a business trip. Or I guess at any other time. Cannot recommend this place in any way shape or form. Only redemption is the Starbucks in the lobby.
Let me start by saying that we are loyal gold members and this is the first negative experience I have ever had at a Hilton property. In this case, I asked specifically asked about being able to park my camper conversion van in a surface lot when I booked the downtown Salt Lake location. I was fully prepared to go elsewhere if they did not have parking facilities but I was assured it was no problem. However when I arrived I was told by the valet they could not accommodate my vehicle and basically I was on my own to find parking. The desk host, the concierge, and the ‘manager’ had no suggestions and offered no assistance other than to apologize that I had been misinformed about when I reserved the room. I ended up finding a pay lot down the street. No accommodation whatsoever from Hilton. I might have let this go but after camping for two weeks and 10 hours on the road only to be greeted with such inconsideration and poor customer service I feel compelled to let others know to lower their expectations for the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.
