Location plus service
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We had a very long stay this summer at the Residence Inn and couldn't have been more pleased. The location is perfect for taking expeditions outside Munich, as it is just a short walk to the Ost rail station with access to some main rail lines, commuter lines, local underground transit, and buses to most all the main tourist areas. And, since all units have nicely equipped kitchens, another location plus was having multiple nearby supermarkets -- most within a 5 to 10 min. walk and at various price points.

Our stay this summer was made comfortable by a hardworking team. If there was a problem (rare), someone would immediately work to correct the situation. We also appreciated the friendliness of the staff--from those at the front desk to those in the breakfast dining area. Everyone showed considerable energy and attention to detail. There was even an opportunity to meet other guests and office staff at a weekly reception -- a very nice touch.

Breakfast was buffet style with numerous options that were continuously replenished. Rooms were surprisingly comfortable and felt like an apartment: queen size beds, large desk with nearby filing cabinets and executive style chair, sofa, modest table for eating, kitchen with dishwasher, fast internet, great air-conditioning, and a very spacious bathroom that included an extra large shower. There was abundant storage for a long stay, although I could have used a bit more space in the kitchen for storing cereals, etc. Units have several views (courtyard or street), and we preferred the street side. It's a busy street (windows blocked noise), but we saw beautiful sunsets most nights from our windows. Our only actual complaints were related to the interior corridors and laundry facilities. Corridors needed serious carpet cleaning and there needed to be more washing machines. We ended up going to a local self-serve laundromat since we often had 2-3 loads.

The neighborhood itself has become quite trendy with numerous restaurants, cafes, boutiques, nearby parks/public swimming pools/green spaces, and beautifully restored buildings. It's a place people in Munich want to live in, so rents/home prices are increasing.

We'd definitely stay here again. While we used the Residence Inn as a base for hiking in the region, it's also a good location for visiting museums and the city center.

Clean and spacious rooms in a decent location

The room, while nothing to get excited about, was clean and well appointed. We stayed as a family of 4 and even with the pull-out couch made cup for the kids we were find on space for 4 nights. Walking distance to the train with an easy 2-3 stop journey to get into the center. Maybe not great for tourists who prioritize location, but as it gives you the option of a kitchenette that might be good for some. We ate out at several restaurants in walking distance and they were all good.

Fantastic Breakfast

We arrived one day earlier for Octoberfest and stayed here as our original hotel, Munich Marriott was fully booked. Room was cleaned and efficiently designed with comfortable beds. Hotel staff was friendly and speaks English. Breakfast was awesome with a lot of fresh fruits and varieties of German and English items. They even had bagels and lox! Only down size was the breakfast area was really crowded as the hotel also shared breakfast area with their sister hotel, the Courtyard, next door. The breakfast staff works really hard to clear tables and replenish food without being grumpy or snappy like some staff we have experienced at other hotels and restaurants.
Only a 5 min walk to the Bahn station and the bus stop is also right in front of hotel. If you don’t mind using public transportation this hotel is a great option.

New Favorite Hotel for Week Long Business Stays

The rooms are nicely decorated, and spacious. The sofa is a sofa-bed if you’re traveling with kids. Closet space is more than what I need, and there are plenty of electric outlets near the bed (no USB though). If you’re not German, don’t forget the power adapter!

Though it’s equipped with a small kitchenette, the breakfast spread each morning is fantastic. The dinner menu at the bistro in the evenings is somewhat more limited, but gets refreshed often and usually has good options. Plenty of big tv’s playing sports nearby and lots of tables if you don’t want to be at the bar. And the hotel has its own parking and is located close to the main autobahns.

The staff is attentive, responsive and always do what it takes to make everything right. I’ve enjoyed rooms with either core to the streets or to the rear courtyard area.

I highly recommend this for both business travel and for families with kids.
