Marroit residence inn Munich
Train from airport to
Ostenbahnhof (East Munich train station) then appox 500 m from train station to hotel.
3 train stops from Marienplatz (5 mins)
Very good reception on arrival by:
Adrian
Room ready by 12pm advised by efficient app system.
Overall impression-not what we expected from Marroit.
Feels like this place understaffed and under budgeted for a Marroit.
Room good, has a kitchen, lounge suite (pull out bed). Bathroom adequate but shower over bath which is quite high when stepping out. Does have a handy clothes line though. Towels poor quality and well used. Toiletries bulk from the wall. Housekeeping really late, past 5pm some days. This is so bad as we arrived back after a full day at 5:10 & they were servicing our room. (Not once but 3 days in a row) Not a complaint against housekeeping staff who were working hard & pleasant but come on management employ more staff, damn annoying to arrive back to your room after 5pm when you want to rest after a full day of being a tourist & have to go to bar at extra cost with poor service so your staff can service the room!
Quiet location as we had courtyard view, not main road.
Breakfast buffet very busy but it is end of July. Food average. Do not like yoghurt presented in large tubs, pointed out to staff on 1st day a big fly dead in tub. His comment was to laugh & say “ha ha kamikaze”. Not really amusing when you dining there. Yoghurt should be in individual tubs and meats/cheese etc should have some sort of covering. Hygiene is lacking, this is summer, very warm-37.5- and no real food care.
The bar: do not expect Karl to give good service, disinterested, away from bar at times and we witnessed him being quite rude to another patron.
We had drinks here a couple of nights at extra cost to us due to late housekeeping but choose not to dine here as bar & resturant has no atmosphere.
Very good Italian down side street go there much better choice.
Would we return, probably not unless a really good deal on offer, if a tourist look for more central location.

Enjoyable great central location

We give very high marks to this Hotel.

Attentive staff, all spoke great English, extremely clean property, great central location, 5 minute walk to the train. Room clean, comfortable and good air conditioning which we enjoyed since it was hot outside.

Not many TV channels, but that was fine. WiFi was fairly slow like most hotels in the world.

Continental breakfast was the best we've ever had out of any hotel we've every stayed in. Many more selections than expected and something we looked forward to each morning. Also, the Bar was enjoyable, comfortable and good choices each day.

We were a little surprised our room only came with two housekeeping visits during our stay. That did not deter from our enjoyment. Drapes blocked the morning light out so we could sleep. Very modern well appointed hotel from end to end. Also, we tried to check in at 11am but no rooms were ready until 3pm. We were exhausted from 30 hours of travel with no sleep and wanted to nap as soon as we arrived. Fortunately the hotel checked in our luggage, and we went to the city center for an early dinner. This was probably all good and helped us to adjust from US Pacific time!

When we return to Munich we will stay at this location without hesitation.

Accommodating Hotel

The hotel is nice with very helpful people at the desk. The breakfast was fine but seems to be the same thing every day - nothing exceptional. The A/C in the rooms is minimal. Would have been nice if they had more snacks, still water and soda drinks available for purchase. It was very handy to have an ice machine downstairs since ice is not available everywhere in Germany. The cleaning takes place twice a week. Not a problem but we did have to ask for extra towels and toilet paper. Whoever wrote the description must walk very fast because it took us 15 minutes to walk from the hotel to the bus/tram station and a lot of construction was going on down the street.
The great part of the area was the access to some fantastic restaurants. The Italian restaurant behind the inn was absolutely divine. We ate there 3 nights in a row. Highly recommend. Almost worth a trip just to go there to eat. The meals at the inn (lunch and dinner) were exorbitant and not that great. Lunch for three people cost us 80 euros and it wasn't that special or had dessert. We were on the street side so not quiet -- be sure to ask for a room with the courtyard view. On Wednesday nights they have a mini buffet that is free and very nice. By the way -- the airport is more like 40 minutes away. The hotel staff booked a taxi for us the last day at our request which was very nice. I felt very safe in the area. The staff was very nice to store our baggage while our room was being prepared. If I used a taxi, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. By the time we got back from our tours, the thought of that walk from the station was depressing. The shampoo, etc. amenities were adequate -- nothing special. There was trouble Sorry this is so jumbled.
