Really comfortable stay and convenient location
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This was my first time to Munich so I didn't know the city well. I read positive reviews on this property and I'm glad I stayed here. The location was very convenient as it was just 2 blocks to the train station (Munchen Ost) and there is a tram that passes by literally right in front of the hotel.

I was coming with my wife and 3 kids so it was essential that I get a connecting room. The rooms that I got (5007 and 5009) were very spacious and connecting. They both had a king size bed and also a sofa bed in each room. My kids said the sofa bed was very comfortable. The rooms were modern and very quiet. Even though we were on the front of the building facing the street it was very quiet. It was very very hot during my stay and I can honestly say the GREAT and strong Air conditioning really was wonderful. Sometimes at some hotels the AC doesn't get too cold but the AC worked great here. Also, it's very convenient that the rooms have a good sized refrigerator that works well, a dishwasher and a microwave oven.

The lobby area is nice with lots of room to sit and there is also a kids play room if you have young kids. Our 3 year old daughter really enjoyed it. My older kids loved the outdoor ping pong table. The breakfast in the morning was good and had a lot of variety.

I definitely recommend the hotel. The front desk staff were mostly friendly. The male (with glasses) that worked the late afternoon/evening shift was especially always friendly. I forget his name but he was the friendliest that always had a smile on his face (something that is rare for Germans in the hospitality industry) sadly.

If you are on the fence on booking this don't hesitate. It's not in the heart of all the action but most things are a quick 10 minute metro ride.

Stay Away!!!

I reserved this hotel with Marriott 7-nights certificate, expecting to spend last 7 nights of our Europe trip there. I did extensive research before the trip and was really looking forward to stay at this hotel at the end of the trip.
After we checked in the allocated room, we were immediately horrified with unsatisfactory conditions of the room.
- The entry door is broken, without ability to lock it from inside (we were advised by hotel stuff that we should not worry, as nobody will come in)
- Extreme stains on furniture and carpet
- Broken TV, hanging on a some type of fixture, ready to fall down
- Nonfunctional phone
- Extremely loud constant dripping noise from bathroom ceiling (we were advised that we should close the door and it will gets less noticed – really?!)
- Broken shower door
- Mold in the shower
- Terrible bathroom amenities, toiletries with a very unpleasant chemical smell (I could not get the shampoo to make any foam to be able to wash my hair. We decided not to use them, as we were not sure what those bottles were filled with).
- Without mentioning, we did not even consider to attend the hotel breakfast next morning
I requested a room change, but was advised nothing else available. Next day my family had to cancel all our planned activities, and we had to deal with the hotel issue. I discussed the situation with the hotel morning stuff on duty (as he could not make a manager available), who promised to take care of the issue, leaving us to wait for his feedback for over an hour. Meanwhile, we had a cleaning stuff freely entering our room without waiting for a door been open. After more than hour wait, I found the hotel agent was busy with other things and had not even addressed our situation. I had to insist for him to take some actions. Finally, he made some calls and advised that he could not find a way to accommodate us in another Marriott hotel. However, he said that he would release the 7-nihgt certificate right away, it will be available on my account in 2 days, but we could call Marriott to use it at another hotel.
I am still puzzled with all positive reviews. One can even judge by the lobby or hallways that this property does not deserve even 3 stars.
I also posted the actual photos of the conditions.
Location is not the best either, more like good 10 min walk from the train station. And the area is a little shady.
We ended up moving to Hilton Munich City at our own expense (was totally a right choice). And there is still no sign of the certificate anywhere on my account after 12 days.

Clean and very quiet

Stayed at the hotel for four nights and found the room to be clean, very quiet and a good size. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was good, my only gripe was the toaster broke after our first two days and they didn’t have a replacement. However, there were plenty of other food options!

The hotel Bar is quite relaxing and it was good to see, for a change, that drinks were the same price as local bars.

The hotel is about 5 mins from the train station which takes you to central Munich as well as the airport. If you want to walk it will take about 30 minutes into the tourist spots.

I would definitely use this hotel again if I returned to Munich.

We spent 3 nights at the Residence Inn Munich Ost. Great , efficient front desk check in by Adrian . Room was very comfortable and very clean. Housekeeping was efficient and thorough. Everything worked very well. Breakfast was delicious and the service again was very professional and efficient.
In summation --a great stay at a convenient location.

Nice hotel to stay in before flying home

Train back from Strasbourg, France, then used MVV tickets to get near here. Walked down the road and found the hotel. Checked in. Very nice people. Nice room and good breakfast. If we weren't flying off the next day we could have quickly gone to the sites of Munich from here. But we just enjoyed resting in the very nice hotel room. The next morning we easily walked to the train station with local school children and got to the airport quickly by S Bahn.
