Munich is a captivating city, full of intriguing contradictions that keep it fresh and interesting. It’s the capital of Bavaria, yet it retains its small-town charm and boasts a very walkable city center. It’s peppered with age-old architecture and is home to some of the world’s most advanced tech. It offers perfect peculiarities, like land-locked nudist beaches and a city-surfing hotspot (and we don’t mean of the cyber variety).
Derag Livinghotel Am Viktualienmarkt is well located for your whirl of urban exploration, with one of Munich’s historic sights right opposite the hotel – the Viktualienmarkt (food market). From the contemporary interiors of this elegant hotel, you’re within walking distance of some of the area’s oldest attractions, including the former royal palace and the ornate exterior of the Rathaus.
After a day of strolling the streets, you have the hotel’s inviting vegetarian restaurant to enjoy, or you can cook up a storm in your room’s very own kitchenette. If you haven’t worn yourself out, Derag Livinghotel Am Viktualienmarkt has a well-equipped fitness area to enjoy, with floor mats and state-of-the-art workout machines.
Business Double rooms are tastefully decorated and efficiently designed. You’ll enjoy 235-260 square feet of space, as well as a kitchenette in the room, so you can prepare yourself a light meal at your own convenience. The sleek décor and large windows give the rooms a bright and airy feel.
The hotel’s restaurant, TIAN Experience Taste, serves exquisite, contemporary vegetarian cuisine from its open show kitchen, so you can watch the skilled chefs at work. Breakfast is also served within the hotel.
The hotel boasts a wellness center and spa area that includes a modern cardio-suite, complete with upright and recumbent bikes, individual exercise equipment and floor mats.
Derag Livinghotel Am Viktualienmarkt is located just across the road from Munich’s historic Viktualienmarkt – a daily food market and square situated in the center of the city. You’ll find the Reichenbachplatz tram stop just a two-minute walk away, offering easy access to both Munich Central Station and the English Garden. The National Theater, Munich Residenz and the Rathaus building are all within walking distance of the hotel.
How to Get There
Excellent location. Parking is arranged by the hotel so when arriving just park in front and them leave the keys with the bell boy. Very attentive personnel and good service. Rooms are modern but decoration related to Munic‘s history. Sightseeing an shopping start at the doorstep!
The most convenient hotel I have ever stayed in. Everything is within walking distance. The very attractive Viktualien Markt is right in front of the hotel with lots of eateries and delicatessen and lovely flower stalls. Munich has a great outdoor culture. We were there at the end of February. The weather was glorious and we had great difficulties to find a seat outside, where they provide you with sheepskin rugs to sit on and if that is not enough additional fleece blankets. Every one in the hotel made us very welcome. The rooms are very modern and comfortable .Great breakfast.
This was a great location for my short visit to Munich. I was able to walk almost everywhere, and use the Marienplatz station when traveling further away. Complimentary beer and water, plus a free laundry room were nice touches for this hotel. The bed was a bit hard, only on the last night did I discover it's a sleep number with adjustable firmness. Would have been nice to know that up front!
There were several cobwebs in places, so a deep clean might be needed, but it was clean for the most part.
Yes, it's an expensive hotel, especially during Oktoberfest. But you get what you pay for. Breakfast is not included, though, to my surprise, given the rates. The personnel are extremely accommodating and helpful. The rooms are somewhat smallish but have all the luxury amenities. Would definitely stay there again.
Had a pleasant stay here for our honeymoon.
- amazing location
- helpful staff
- room with balcony
- heater did not work on the first night, however it was fixed after we highlighted to the management
- breakfast was a little bit pricey and food was salty.
- the room I chose was different from the pictures on Expedia (Business plus double) the design was very weird, can be claustrophobic for some people
- bed wasn’t comfortable for us. It kept moving. Good to provide some instructions for guests in future.
