How to Get There
If you must go to Munich then I can recommend this aparthotel. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable; the staff are friendly and it's easy to get to. It is on a main road but we kept our windows shut and found the air conditioning to be very efficient and easy to use. Combine this with a very comfortable bed and we both slept very well indeed throughout our stay.
if you do stay here you will have to resort to Munich's public transport system to get around but the way that tourist attractions are dotted around the city it would be fair to say that this condition would apply wherever your accommodation was located. The Citadines Arnulfpark is a place that you should certainly consider and if work takes me in this direction in the future then I would certainly look to return.
We were immediately greeted by an extremely friendly front desk worker, who spoke/understood great English!! At check-in we were offered to upgrade our room for $40, and with the experience we just had in Berlin, we jumped on it and so glad we did. The room was very spacious and even had a kitchenette!
-Location: The tram stop was literally RIGHT across from the hotel which made traveling around extremely convenient!!
-Decent sized rooms, nice staff
-With the tram stop right outside our window basically, people waiting could get very rowdy, making it very loud, but it was livable.
-The breakfast SUCKED. They charge $15 per person and the only hot items they had were some sausage and another thing that didn't even look appealing. Huge disappointment to have spent that much money to eat some pretzels and fruit.
-Not sure if this is a European thing or what, but we had a "queen" room, which literally consisted of two twin beds pushed together to make a queen......... I was not at all pleased with this. So if me and my partner were trying to cuddle or anything, the beds kept pushing apart and you'd fall in the gap!! So stupid.
We were very satisfied with our stay at Citadines. We got the S1 train from the airport to Hackebrucke and the hotel is a 5-10 minute walk. Check-in seemed to take seconds. We had a 2 room apartment as there were 3 of us. The room had a microwave, kettle, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, cutlery, crockery etc. The hotel is on a main road/junction and is very noisy when the windows are open. We had 1 bottle of water between us for our whole stay (5 days). The room and towels/bedding weren't cleaned or changed during our stay. There is free hot drinks in reception which is nice after a day shopping/sightseeing. A tram stop is right outside the hotel and the city is 4 stops away. The hotel sell tickets. We bought an all day group ticket, which lasts till 6am, and cost 12.80. You can also buy 3 or 5 day tickets. There is a gym in the hotel. There are umbrellas in the foyer if needed. The staff were excellent and very informative. There's a couple of supermarkets within a 5 minute walk and a subway restaurant close by. We would stay at Citadines again.
Pros: The location is convenient to the central bus station (10 min walk), S-train (10 min walk), and restaurants on / around Nymphenburger Str. (10 min walk). Affordable rates. Room was clean and included a small kitchenette which was nice.
Cons: No housekeeping, cheap bed linens and horrible pillows, hotel is located on a busy street. We had a really hard time sleeping at night because we couldn’t cool off the room. The A/C barely worked and if we opened the windows, the street noise (all through the night) kept us up. Mind you, this was in May. I couldn’t imagine staying here in the summer.
Spacious clean rooms, modern style, quiet, lovely staff (Luca and Soledad were both very helpful and I thank them). Really close to the city centre with the tram right at the front. All our needs were fulfilled, we had a very comfortable stay and very friendly environment. Will definitely visit again
