How to Get There
During my stay I ordered room service which I was charged when I placed the order . On checking out the front staff wanted to charge me again . They told me they would fix it and did not very cranky . Charged an extra $356 Australian dollars !!!
The hotel appears very nice but our room was not the cleanest. Our tissue box was soaked through with water. Gross. Did not leave a second roll of toilet paper and only a half roll when we arrived, our bathtub drain didn’t drain, we had to call them to come and fix it- which they did right away, and the blow dryer just fell apart when we tried to use it-they did replace it when I went to front desk. There was always a line at the front desk, only 1 person working, for a hotel that size, they need a lot more front desk staff. It was a nice hotel, quiet and comfortable, but the La Quinta down the street, which was also quiet and comfortable, is a much better price. The restaurant was way overpriced. We never ate there, too many places around hotel to eat instead. Location is good, strange to get too, but good location. We had a two full bed suite with a pull out couch bed. The couch mattress was dirty and they had no sheets or blankets for it. So we just all squeezed onto the little full beds! I really thought the La Quinta down the street which is much lower priced was a better stay for my money. I most likely will not stay here again. Too expensive for services that were not that great. Disappointing.
I booked this hotel for a much needed staycation and it didn't disappoint. The room was clean and spacious. The room was pretty quite but you could hear other people in the lobby but it wasn't so loud that it was bothersome. Check in was fast and the staff was friendly and helpful.
My cousin drove me up to Dallas for a doctor's appointment since I am still too weak to drive. The nightmarish stay began by being told we couldn't use a card with someone else's name (my fathers, with the same very uncommon last name) despite the fact we had called and asked the day before to make sure it wouldn't be an issue. Fine, there was a very unfortunate miscommunication, but the manager Damien Uribe was exceedingly rude and condecending calling two grown women "sweetie" and very unhelpful by only suggesting we withdraw money from a credit card. Even after piecing together enough to afford the stay, I'm certain a no star motel would have been better.
The beds were slightly softer than slabs of concrete, not to be confused with a firm mattress, but one that thumped when you sit on it and had no give whatsoever. Not even the couch was comfortable. Something was presumably wrong with the air compressor or such because the entire hotel was humid, so much so that the sheets felt wet to the touch. The walls are predictably thin but the way the rooms are built around the perimeter of the hotel make it so every noise in the lobby echoes all the way up. In addition to being able to hear every sound from kids playing to adults at the bar, you could also hear someone cough from the parking lot... keep in mind we were on the 9th floor!
Even without all the other issues, this hotel is in a pretty bad neighborhood; very old and run down houses and right next to even worse hotels. There were a few times of seeing people who were clearly high wandering between the various motels and into the Wyndham parking lot. Not to mention the obvious and very strong stench of cheap marijuana from our own parking lot.
All in all, a horrible stay and I am shocked that Wyndham has fallen so far. I remember when they used to be considered one of the nicer hotels but you can tell they have let the quality slip for awhile. Thankfully we were only there for 2 nights but we would have immeditely gone somewhere else if checking in hadn't been such a horrific and exhausting experience.
The room was beautiful and spacious, the bathroom was lovely and the water temperature was reliable. The beds were stiffer than I like, but everything else was wonderful! Check-in was quick, front desk staff was helpful, and the rooms were immaculate.
